In the 1960s, Haku Maki was beginning his career as a modern print maker. A circa 1950 artistic black and white photo of the docks at Monterey, California, pencil signed on the mount as "Edna S Deuren" or similar. The gentlemen standing at left with fedoras and cap are looking down on the small fishing craft at a time when Monterey's fishing industry was in high gear. Measurements are 9 1/4" by 7 1/4" (photo itself) and 20 1/2" by 17" as framed. Condition is very good.

This is a large work of art in delicate condition, 26" by 54" and 3" wide frame, so, I am seeking a local (Southern California) buyer who can pick it up. An unsigned watercolor painting of three fish very artistically arranged in a triangular pattern on a simple slab, the background neutral and undefined, measurements 15 3/4" by 12 1/2" (17 1/2" by 14 1/2" framed in wood with an intentional blanched distressed finish). The work could conceivably date to the 1940's or 1950's and the quality of the imagery certainly suggests the hand of a trained or listed artist. From a local estate, the homeowners having spent much time in Southeast Asia, an oil on panel unframed and unsigned painting of a younger man wearing some traditional simple clothing. The piece measures 26 3/4" by 23 3/4" and dates to the late 20th century.
