An original drawing of a standing cowboy, executed on thin tracing-style paper, with estate stamp at lower right of noted Arizona artist CURTIS WINGATE (1926-1982). The drawing, 18" by 9" inside the current mat, is very sketchy, as if perhaps a very preliminary study for a finished watercolor or painting. Wingate was born in Dennison, Texas and spent most of his life in Arizona after moving there from California...

This is an original charcoal on paper portrait drawing of a young woman, 18" by 12 1/2" inside the mat (25" by 19" as framed), signed "J Floch" at lower right. His prints and drawings (see a lithograph by the artist, in my shop) are quite affordable, while paintings have brought to the $80,000 area at auction in Europe and America. Floch was born in Austria, but spent the later part of his life in the New York area. From an online biography: "Joseph Floch was born in Vienna, Austria in 1895...

A fine Old Master drawing in pencil and red chalk on laid paper, measuring 6" by 3 3/4" inside the mat (16 1/4" by 14 1/2" in modern day framing), unsigned, but with accompanying information, a circa 1970 typed label, proclaiming this to be "Lady with Jug", and by listed English late 18th century/early 19th century artist PRINCE HOARE II (1755-1834). There is also nearby an "18 Gns" price (18 Guineas). A self portrait by Hoare hammered at Sotheby's New York in 2015 for $16,000...

Original drawing in ink and gold paint on white paper, 6 1/2" by 6" (18 1/2" by 16" in tasteful silver leaf framing, with Plexiglas), signed at lower right and dated at lower left 10 V 93 by the noted American graphic artist and painter JAYME ODGERS (1939-). The image appears to be of an abstracted face. Odgers was instrumental in the late 1970's revamping of California design. He was involved in creating poster images for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games...

This one is hard to describe....but I will start somewhere. It is an oil on canvas work, unframed, 24" by 24", with no signature on the front, and only "SARAH W." on the overlap giving any possible indication as to who painted this. A green eye within a triangular window in to a human face stares at the viewer, Magritte-like, as the face of a young black child stares from the lower right corner, as a complex pair of intertwined figures at lower left make for arresting and dream-like imagery...

Charcoal drawing of a Native American woman removing a garment, 17" by 9 1/2" (24 1/2" by 16 1/2" framed), signed at lower left by noted contemporary American western artist NED JACOB (1938-). Jacob was born in Tennessee and found himself in Montana at a young age, working in Glacier Park. He became acquainted with the well-known Montana artist Ace Powell, who became a mentor. In the 1960's Jacob moved to Taos, New Mexico, where he began to paint in Walter Ufer's old studio...

An unframed early 19th century ink and watercolor drawing featuring an extensive landscape with mountains, trees, buildings and figures, titled in the gold paint hand-drawn strip on the ornate mat "ANSICHT DES KAPUZINERBERGES BEY SALZBURG". The work does not appear to be signed, though there is some old Germanic pencil writing on the backing sheet that could possibly supply some clues to authorship. The work measures 7 1/4" by 10", and 11" by 13 3/4" including the backing sheet...

Original 16" by 18" ink on paper drawing of two men in slickers in an overloaded canoe in a rainstorm, their faces reacting to the increasing challenges as they are apparently taking on water, signed at lower right by the noted American illustrator HENRY "HY" SUMNER WATSON (1868-1933). The drawing was evidently produced for eventual publication by Outing Publishing Co., as their violet "PAID" stamp dated April 10, 1907 and "Book Department" appears on the reverse...

Original charcoal drawing by Jean Hippolyte Marchand (French, 1883-1940). Initialed JHM l.r. Also with a gallery label verso from Crane Kalman Gallery, 178 Brompton Rd. London, which gives the name of the artist, the title of the work, and the name of the purchaser in 1967. Crane Kalman Gallery handled the estate of the artist and held a number of exhibitions of his work, including a retrospective exhibition in 1967. One of three works by this artist currently available.
