**One of several works by the artist in my shop** Ink drawing on heavy Strathmore art paper, the subject the familiar cathedral at San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. The unframed work measures 28 3/4" by 23", and is signed by the artist at lower left and dated there 1953. The Illinois-born Lutz is known today for his urban landscapes and genre subjects, often painted with bright color and with heavy impasto...

Ink drawing on paper laid on board, measuring 14" by 15", and 21 1/2" by 22 1/2" as simply framed, depicting the famous and traditional Mummers Day parade held annually in November in Philadelphia. The work is signed with initials "F B" at lower right, and there is an old label from the N.W. Ayer advertising agency affixed to the reverse, with the notation of a delivery date of November 25, 1952...

An accomplished drawing in pastel, 16" by 31 1/2" (22" by 38" in present framing), signed on the reverse by local Los Angeles artist Julie Belnick (1957-), and dated there 1989. The strange, surrealistic, stark modernist scene is of two brooms leaning against several walls dividing an otherwise empty space. A silvery gray tone dominates, with some subtle yellow mixed in, resulting in an elegant and mysterious work. Belnick is a Southern California artist with an exhibition history...

A most unusual and interesting DOUBLE-SIDED pencil drawing on wove paper, one side featuring an indian in headdress snatching a child off the shore, a tiny fenced white settlement visible in the upper left corner; the other side features a white man in frontier clothing holding his rifle as a native brave swings his tomahawk. Both sides are signed "E Thompson artist". I am not aware of a known artist by this name so this will rest squarely in the folk art or historical categories...

A trio of drawings I have owned for about thirty years---all unsigned, one on tracing paper, the other on heavier paper, and double-sided, the subject apparently Indian Rock, a favorite subject of artists since the 19th century when they visited the Naragansett Bay area of Rhode Island. Contrasty, dramatic charcoal drawing of a figure who appears to be civil rights icon Martin Luther King, 23 1/2" by 17 3/4" inside the mat, 31" by 25" simply framed in wood behind thin Plexi, signed at lower left and dated there 1987 by American artist JESSICA ROCKWELL. Rockwell, a relative of Norman Rockwell, is a talented portraitist currently working out of Clearwater, Florida. Barnard/1933.” The young man with brown hair and eyes wearing an open necked white shirt leans into the picture plane with a sense of youthful eagerness. Elinor Barnard (1872-1942) was born and studied in the UK, but worked mostly in the USA, principally New York City. She has a relaxed and economical style. Sight size 16 3/8 by 12 ¼ inches.
