This one is hard to describe....but I will start somewhere. It is an oil on canvas work, unframed, 24" by 24", with no signature on the front, and only "SARAH W." on the overlap giving any possible indication as to who painted this. A green eye within a triangular window in to a human face stares at the viewer, Magritte-like, as the face of a young black child stares from the lower right corner, as a complex pair of intertwined figures at lower left make for arresting and dream-like imagery...

A rare opportunity to acquire an original drawing by a very highly esteemed twentieth century California artist, the works of whom have exceeded $50,000 at auction. This drawing is signed at lower left by the sought-after ROGER KUNTZ (1926-1975). The subject is clearly "Museum (XXX) Art" and I believe it likely to be a study for the Laguna Art Museum on Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach, California. The work itself measures 15 1/2" by 20 1/2"...

Hughes was born and died in Los Angeles but in between she spent much time in the Provincetown art colony on Cape Cod...

Original pencil figural drawing, 15" by 9" plus a gray mat, unframed, signed at lower right "K. Delaney" and dated there 1979. I do not know who the artist might have been but he or she certainly had a talent as a draftsperson. The condition is generally good save for modest paper browning and there is tape residue on the reverse from clumsy attachment to the mat. Fit a frame on this and you'll have a pleasant, nicely executed drawing.

Drawing, I believe in charcoal, 12 3/4" by 18 1/2" inside the matting, framed, but no glass, signed at lower left "M. Moss" and dated "March '93", the subject a large wooden house on a lake surrounded by mountains, small boats tied up in front. I think this is American but I suppose it could also be English; I'm undecided..........though, the framing suggests would make me lean towards American, as the reverse was backed by the typically American wood slats with knotholes...

The drawing is beautifully executed by a sure hand, in what appears to be oil crayon or similar medium. I don't see a listing for an artist by this name so will offer this on its decorative merits. Condition is excellent. This colorful, vigorous drawing will look great in a dining area or large kitchen.

Sepia ink on paper drawing, 5 3/4" by 3 3/4" inside a red mat opening, 11" by 8 1/2" as framed, signed at lower left and dated there 1864, by listed English woman artist SARAH LOUISA KILPACK (1840-1909). This is a sweet, beautiful little drawing by an artist who seems to have created mostly coastal landscapes in oil, especially along the English Channel or around the Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey. This would be an early work created when she would have been in only her mid 20's...

Fine old master style sepia ink drawing on paper, with some pencil underneath, 10" by 15 1/2" inside the mat, 15 1/2" by 20 1/2" in modern day frame, signed at lower right "Furstenburg", the locale identified at bottom center apparently by the artist as "View of the Rhine from Bacharach Aug 17". This could well refer to the year 1817 as the work has sufficient age. On the reverse is written in pencil "Germany $3.75"...

**ONE OF SEVERAL WORKS BY THE ARTIST IN MY SHOP, all acquired at the same time and place**, this is a pencil drawing on paper, 11 1/4" by 9" as framed, signed at lower left with the initials H.L. and dated there "62". HARRY LIEBERMAN (1876-1983) was a Polish-born, long-lived artist who didn't begin his artistic career until late in life...

Drawing of a nude woman lying on her side, 10 1/4" by 15" inside the mat, 16 1/2" by 20" in frameless protective framing, signed at lower right "Sean Mayten" or similar, and dated there 1-13-86. The artist does not appear to be listed, at least under that name or variants of it. He seems to have used perhaps grayish-tan silverpoint or other unusual medium to draw this on a pebbled paper...

Something of a mystery, this is a very interesting soft pencil drawing of a young woman, 13 1/4" by 9 1/4" (19" by 15" framed), signed indecipherably at lower right and dated there 1931. Try as I might, I have absolutely come to a dead end when it comes to figuring out this signature. Adjacent to that signature an inscription reads "Baroness Leonnie Perraja". The drawing clearly exhibits modernist influences, including a sort of cubist handling of the hair curls, and a flattening of elements ...

Charcoal drawing of two nude women bathing, 6 1/4" by 8 7/8" inside the mat, 13 1/2" by 15 1/2" framed, signed a lower right center "Mayrshofer Max". This is a work by the German artist MAX MAYRSHOFER (1875-1950), likely created around the time of World War I. Mayrshofer, the son of a baker, was born in Munich and it is with that Bavarian city that he is closely associated. He was educated in art there under the tutelage of Seitz and Marr, and by 1910 was working as an illustrator for local p...

Early 19th century Swiss drawing titled on reverse "paysanne", 7" by 5 1/2" (12 1/4" by 10 1/2" as framed), unsigned. This is a fine drawing by a talented hand. I imagine that the artist would be listed were it signed. Condition is excellent. It is taped at top only to the underlying matting materials.
