An ink on paper drawing of a man holding a cigarette, unsigned, 6 3/8 " by 5 3/4" inside the mat (12 1/2" by 10 1/2" simply framed). When I first saw this my thoughts drifted to accomplished ink line drawings by the American master artist Ben Shahn, or, possibly, German Expressionism (Georg Grosz, etc.). This is a beautiful pastel on paper of the Races at LONGCHAMPS, FRANCE or possibly ASCOT RACETRACK in ENGLAND The work is reminiscent of Alfred MUNNINGS or the early work of RAOL DUFY This work has an additional sketch on the back. The work was probably a study for a piece in oil, as many Artist do. It is unsigned on blue Charcoal paper and framed measures about 19” x 28”

A most unusual and interesting DOUBLE-SIDED pencil drawing on wove paper, one side featuring an indian in headdress snatching a child off the shore, a tiny fenced white settlement visible in the upper left corner; the other side features a white man in frontier clothing holding his rifle as a native brave swings his tomahawk. Both sides are signed "E Thompson artist". I am not aware of a known artist by this name so this will rest squarely in the folk art or historical categories...

Early 19th century Swiss drawing titled on reverse "paysanne", 7" by 5 1/2" (12 1/4" by 10 1/2" as framed), unsigned. This is a fine drawing by a talented hand. I imagine that the artist would be listed were it signed. Condition is excellent. It is taped at top only to the underlying matting materials.

This example, measuring 16 3/4" by 13 3/8" (sheet, unframed) does not photograph impressively, as it lacks color and appears faint to the camera, but, it is a complete and powerful work of art, the subject the famous Flatiron Building in New York City.
