Oil on canvas, 18" by 21 1/4", unframed, signed at lower right "A. Alvarez", the subject a colorful flower stall "La Flor de la Rambla" in an obviously European (Spanish, no doubt) town. The work is in need of a frame but otherwise is ready for display. Presently there is an inner frame remnant but no true frame.

Joseph (Jusepe) Ribera, Spanish, 1588-1656. This exquisite portrait of a boy brings to mind Caravaggio. It is oil on canvas and signed faintly with the Monogram J R lower right. It is in good condition, has been relined long ago, and is 34.2cm H by 23.1cm H. It is in an antique frame with outer dimensions of 47.3cm W by 36.8cm H. Paintings by ribera sell for up to 4.5 Million USD.

A nicely worked painting of a lovely flamenca dancer in Spain, circa 1950's, 20 1/4" by 16 1/2" plus narrow frame, signed at lower right by listed artist CESAR VILOT. Vilot was active at mid century, and is known for his alluring paintings of females both nude and dressed, some painted in the style of Jean Gabriel Domergue. The painting has even soiling consistent with age, and a few minor abrasions, see at left below flounce of dress and to her right about 1/4 of the way down...

Eugenio Fernandez Granell, 1912 (La Coruna, Spain)- 2001. Known For surrealist painting. This surrealist painting by granell is a rare early example of his surrealist paintings. Found locally in Los Angeles, this is a large oil on canvas still life of orange and yellow garden nasturtiums in a blue and white old ceramic vessel, a ladies' fan and blue beads resting at its base, the colorful subjects placed elegantly in the neutral space of a cloth covered table and gray-white background, the work signed at lower right by the noted Spanish artist VICENTE SANTAOLARIA (1886-1967)...

"Nyhavn" Oil on canvas, 40" x 31.5" framed Robert Panitzsch was born and lived in Denmark. His subjects were diversified and he was equally skilled painting still life, interiors, gardens, landscapes and seascapes. Most of his landscapes and sea scapes were inspired by the ports and canals of Copenhagen. This piece, painted near the end of his life, is a fine example of the techniques employed by Panitzsch that capture the bold colors and tranquil nature of the port city of Copenhagen...

Federico Jiménez Fernandez was born in Madrid in 1841 and trained at the School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving of San Fernando where he studied with José Gonzalez Bande. He traveled to Paris to continue his studies, as did so many other artists of the time...

Oil and maybe sand mixed in, on paper backed by masonite, 19 3/4" by 24 1/4" (22 3/4" by 27 1/2" as framed), signed "CALZADA" at upper right. The subject is a Picasso-esque harlequin with a haunting, intense, soul-stirring stare, his hands clasped at bottom center, a mysterious drape separating face and hands, all by the noted listed Spanish artist and humanist, LUIZ SAENZ DE LA CALZADA (1912-1994)...

Oil on canvas laid on board painting of small boats in a harbor nocturne, painted in a highly impressionistic hand, 10" by 14", unframed, signed at lower right by the noted Spanish artist LUIS GRANER Y ARRUFI (1863-1929) (sometimes known simply as Luis Graner). The scene is likely in Spain, where the artist is known to have painted harbor scenes of Barcelona...

An oil on canvas painting of a young prince or son born of a noble family, 30" by 24 3/4", unframed, unsigned. The boy's face to my eye reminds of Goya, so perhaps this could be of Spanish origin (though, "FRANCE" is written on the stretcher in modern hand). The painting was relined sometime in the mid 20th century. There are some scratches at upper right which appear as white marks in the photos, some minor edge losses at lower left, and there is an even craquelure over much of the surface.

Oil on canvas painting of a rooster painted blue against a red background, titled on reverse "Coq", signed at upper right (and I think "Nice" appears below that and the 1954 date), by the noted Spanish artist ANGEL PONCE DE LEON (1925-). The work measures 25 3/4" by 21 3/8" (28 1/2" by 24" framed). On the reverse is a long inscription in the hand of the artist: "A Ben Holtcon/toda amistad y gratitud/Angel Ponce de Leon/Palais Royal Marzo 55"...

A set of EIGHT small paintings on Masonite, the largest as framed 8 1/4" by 6", the smallest 6 3/4" by 5 3/4", all signed at lower right corner by artist "J. (or possibly "S") Parraga". The works date to about the 1960's or early 1970's. The artist had obviously been witness to many bullfights, having studied the matador suit of lights, the decorated barbed banderillas, anatomy of the bull, and sun-washed stands...

A large and impressive oil on canvas landscape painting created in 1984 by the noted Spanish impressionist master artist JULIAN GRAU SANTOS (1937-). The flickering brush has left colorful dabs that pull together to form a most beautiful painting, a painting large enough to be the centerpiece of your room. The work measures 32" by 39" (39" by 46" in gold framing). It is signed at lower left, and on the reverse is titled "La casa junto a la roca"...

Original floral still life on canvas by Blasco Mentor (Spain, France, 1919-2003), dating probably from the sixties. Signed "Mentor" l.r. In excellent original condition and with original gallery frame. 16" by 13" canvas alone, 23" by 20" in its frame. Blasco Mentor was a well-known member of the "Ecole de Paris". His works are in the collection of the Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.

Oil on beveled heavy oak panel painting of a man and a woman talking through the iron bars of a large wall opening of a residence compound, providing a view into more greenery beyond, potted flowering plants and vines framing the central imagery, 14 1/4" by 8 1/2", unframed, signed in red at lower right "F. GOMEZ SOLANO" and dated there 1891. This is a charming little gem of a painting with fine detail and wonderful handling of the Mediterranean sunlight and shadow...

Oil on Canvas on Board, 13" x 10" unframed Juan Pablo Salinas was born in Madrid in 1871...
