Vertical format colorful oil painting of a mounted cowboy making his way through a steep canyon in the Southwest or Rockies as the afternoon's last sun reddens a crag at right, a dramatic cloud beyond the "V" shaped notch topping an expansive and empty land beyond. The painting, measuring " by ", unframed, has some age but I doubt it would have been painted earlier than about the mid 1950's, judging from the stretcher and stapled canvas...

Oil on old gray art board painting of a pirate swashbuckler in the 17th century, 15" by 10" (23" by 18" framed), unsigned, executed in the earlier 20th century style of N. C. Wyeth. This work might have been created circa 1920 or so as an illustration to a book perhaps. The image would be a fine addition to a young boy's room. Condition is excellent save for a few small losses, one at center left (appearing as blue spot) and a loss in the figure's pants (light blue area at bottom).
Small oil on canvas laid on board painting of a desert, mid to late 20th century, 4 1/2" by 6 1/2" (11 1/2" by 10" framed), signed at lower right by California desert painter KENNETH WALFORD. This is a rather typical example of the work of this artist. I have handled a number of Walford's works. Most feature desert landscapes. Biographical information on the artist seems to be scarce at this time. The painting is lightly soiled, linen liner is stained at upper right.
Oil on canvas laid on board, 18" by 12", (25 1/2" by 19 1/2" in its quality gilt frame), apparently faintly signed at lower right and bearing the artist's red estate stamp on the reverse. Oil on canvas painting of a white bench in a park or garden, the sun dappled vegetation depicted in colorful palette of purple, yellow, and green, signed at lower right by Southern California contemporary artist PATRICIA SHILLING-STEWART. Oil on masonite painting, (24 1/2" by 31" as framed) of a clipper with bare masts, at anchor near a beach at dawn or sunset, signed at lower right by artist Sean O'Farrell. I do not see any listings for this artist, who obviously had a solid command of painting. The work was likely created circa 1960's. There is a small loss at upper left, otherwise it is in excellent condition. The frame is likely older, dating perhaps to the 1940's or 1950's, and it is itself interesting and of value.
A small unframed oil on Masonite painting, 8" by 10", signed at lower left indecipherably, the work a fantasy landscape painted very much in the style of acclaimed California artist Eyvind Earle (1916-2000). The neon green sunlit strip, the surreal shadows cast by rocks there, the bare tree, the hillside, all are reminiscent of Earle's work. A silvery frame might work on this. Surface is a bit dusty, and heavily varnished. There are some very light drips of something at right center.
