Smith painted landscapes and missions but most often executed superbly painted still lifes of flowers. The artist was born in Denmark and was in Laguna Beach in the budding art colony by 1924. Abraham Rosenthal (Russian/American, 1886-1963) oil on artist board painting of Rockport Harbor. Size: 16 inches x 20 inches. Abraham Rosenthal was a Russian born, American painter who lived in New York and Rockport, Massachusetts. He studied at the Art Students League, Cooper's Union, and was a student of Emile A. Gruppe. He was a member of the Rockport Art Association. Condition is excellent; offered in a gilt wood frame. Signed lower right.

An American impressionist coastal seascape painting on the rough side of a Masonite panel, 12" by 16" (19" by 22 1/2" in quality gold frame), signed at lower right by artist Erna Gruenbaum. Oddly, considering the quality, there is no listing of an artist by this name. The painting probably dates to the 1950's or thereabouts. The frame has very light wear but retains its value.

William Corasick, b. 1907, studied at Temple University and at the University of Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Philadelphia Art Alliance, and exhibited at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, National Academy of Design, and the Butler Art Institute. This unique and exciting abstract is painted on paper and clear film. In very good original condition and professionally framed. Image measurements are app. 20" x 20".

Oil on canvas impressionist still life of flowers, 24" by 30" (30" by 36" in the vintage, period frame), signed at lower right by listed California artist Edwin L. Forker (1876-1958). Born in Pennsylvania, Forker was in California by 1918. He is known today for the body of decorative paintings he left for posterity. This work is in excellent condition, having come directly from a West Los Angeles house where it was displayed for many years.

Oil on canvas painting of high snowy mountains framed by aspen in late autumn, 12" by 16" (17 1/4" by 20 1/2" nicely framed) signed in the wet paint by well listed American artist EDWARD NORTON WARD (1928-). This might well be a scene in northern New Mexico or southern Colorado, but the artist was known to have painted in many locales in the American west, including Montana, Oregon and Alaska. Ward, a native Californian, moved to the Monterey area in the mid 1950's...

On the reverse side it is titled "Deep in the Heart of Texas", signed again and dated 1950. I do not see information on the artist. Curiously there was a woman by that name who passed away in 1989 in Manhattan, Kansas area; on the backing paper, most of a label is missing, but the remaining letters of what would be the town in the address are "MAN..."...
