A small very nicely painted contemporary work in watercolor and gouache, the subject water's edge with tidal rocks and sand. Measuring 10 1/2" by 12 3/4" framed and nicely matted, the work is signed at lower left corner by artist "Greenaway". The framing sticker on the reverse from San Luis Obispo suggests the possibility that the scene is somewhere on the central California coast.

Original antique English watercolor titled "Fox Gloves by Stream" signed by Joseph Poole Addey (1852-1922), dated 1889. Addey was an especially gifted watercolorist. Sold together as a **PAIR**, two watercolor paintings, each signed "BUZZI", one measuring 13 1/2" by 9", the other slightly larger at 14 1/2" by 9" (both 23" by 16 1/2" as framed), the subject two ladies going about their daily activities, dressed in 19th century garb. Condition of both is excellent, with fresh color, and no foxing/staining. The artist is most likely by listed artist Achille Buzzi or possibly Arturo Buzzi.

Antique watercolor painting of five rabbits in a grassy scene, feasting on several peaches, some reduced to just pits. The charming work measures 5 1/4" by 6 7/8" (and the old gold turn of the century frame is 11 1/4" by 13 1/4"). Frame is in above average condition for a frame of its type and period, with just one gold-painted area at left edge where there had been some loss of the design.

Brooks Pettus (1918-2003) was a noted western American artist who passed away in Kennewick, Washington, leaving behind a large body of work in watercolor and oil that only recently appeared on the market. Pettus earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico, and spent time in Albuquerque and Taos in the early 1940's. An original painting by Mayumi Oda depicting a goddess holding an infant in one harm and a branch with pomegranates in the other. On her knee is a sleeping child. Painted in black ink on paper and signed in pencil along with a title "Hariti" and "for Yvonn and Bill". Hārītī (in Japanese, Kishi-mojin) was once an ogress but was shown a better path by the Buddha. She is known as a protector of children and women in childbirth.

Russian Orthodox Church Watercolor by unknown artist 10x12 inch

A nicely worked watercolor of a church dominating over its obviously European village, 15 1/2" by 18 3/4" (21 1/2" by 25" framed), signed at lower right with what appears as "W Kuns" or "Whuns" or similar. The watercolor is clean, with some browning at the very edges from long contact with the mat. Probably executed circa the 1960's, possibly, in the Baltic states (possibly, Latvian) or another part of eastern Europe.

An old watercolor on paper laid on board painting of old buildings, with a view to open water beyond the narrow lane. The work is signed with initials "MC" or "ME" at lower left but there is no other information. The watercolor measures 11 1/2" by 9" inside the mat and 18 1/2" by 16" as framed. When I originally acquired this item, it was with a watercolor of Florida (copied from a Currier and Ives print), signed by the same artist. That piece, of the same age as this, was sold separately.
