Watercolor on paper painting, 10 1/2" by 13 1/2" (18 1/4" by 21" framed), signed at lower right "J.C. MIDDLETON.", the subject a suburban boathouse in a neighborhood, possibly in southeast England. Middleton painted in oil and watercolor in Surrey, greater London, and Cornwall, as well as South Africa, apparently, as a number of works from Cape Town are known. The artist was skilled in watercolor, as this painting shows a sure hand.

I do not see a lot of biographical information on the artist, but he did apparently work in a modernistic style, as Paul Klee or Lionel Feininger inspired semi-abstract or abstract works have appeared at auction in Germany...

Watercolor painting of some age, 13" by 10 1/2" (22" by 18" framed), the subject simply a tree, but, that subject is handled very beautifully, and the work is signed at lower right by artist Paula Day (on whom I find no information). The interpretation of light and color belies the hand of a talented artist. Judging from the framing materials this dates no later than the mid 1960's and likely earlier. I recommend a new mat only; the frame can be retained.

Large watercolor painting in impressionist manner, the subject an old boat, the "Virginia", stored in drydock by a coast. The work, 14" by 22 1/2" inside the innermost mat (25" by 34" framed) is signed at lower right with a signature that greatly resembles that of noted American illustrator artist JON WHITCOMB (1906-1988). Watercolor on paper, 12" by 17", unframed (white mat only, in protective sleeve), executed in a modernist style reminiscent of famous Swiss artist Paul Klee, the scene including three figures and several Old World style stone towers and other suggested architecture depicted in an almost cubist manner, signed at lower right and dated there "62" by the listed Swiss artist ROMOLO ESPOSITO (1913-1991). This work is hard to describe but easy to appreciate...

The signature looks like "Arnold Balg(xxxxx)" or any number of variations of that, but to date I have been unable to tie this to a listed artist...

Watercolor on paper board by Lloyd Ray Ney. Ney - 1893 - 1964, b. Pa., lived in New Hope, Pa. 1925 - 1964. Studied - Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, winner of the Cresson Prize, WPA commissions, his non-objective paintings were included in 15 years of exhibitions at the Guggenheim Museum [ 1947 - 1955]. This work is in very good original condition, frame is original, and measures app. 19" X 25", signed Ney,'61.

Three small works offered together, all by listed California artist TERESA (TESS) RAZALLE-CARTER (1888-1972). Sold as a PAIR, are watercolors of the tourist district of New Orleans by listed artist N. LUCKOW. Each measures 5 3/4" by 7 3/4" (11 3/4" by 12 3/4" as framed). One is titled on the mat "In the VIeux Carre", the other simply "In the French Quarter". One is in excellent condition with glass, the other has no glass and as a result of that the mat has become torn at lower left and at lower right...

Large watercolor painting of trees after the leaves have turned in the fall, signed at lower left by the well listed California artist PAUL LAURITZ (1889-1975). The scene is a celebration of autumnal forests. The work measures 19 1/2" by 27 1/2" and 32 3/4" by 40" as very nicely framed. Lauritz is considered one of the important plein air painters, a number of works having exceeded $25,000 at auction...

**ONE OF TWO WORKS BY THIS ARTIST IN MY SHOP** This is a mixed media work on paper, (watercolor and gouache) 8 1/2" by 12", 16" by 19 1/2" as framed, signed at lower right in pencil by the artist "J Cl Imbert". The landscape scene includes a few trees and a small river rendered in subdued colors. Thee primary medium is watercolor but there are tiny spots of gouache, and possibly charcoal in the tree branches, and scratching technique. No foxing or damage.

This is a nicely executed work in watercolor and gouache, depicting an Italianate landscape with majestic central tree, colorful wildflowers at left, and a distant view to the right, signed at extreme right corner "F. Pratesi". I do not see a listing for such a name, (that is, if I am reading it correctly). All photos are taken through the nasty old non-glare type glass, so actual sharpness of the image is even better than shown...
