Watercolor on paper painting of a tree on a bluff by a sandy shore of an estuary or lake, 5 1/2" by 3 1/2" (8 1/2" by 7" in attractive gilt frame), signed at lower left by the noted French 19th century painter, GEORGES BECKER (c. 1845-1909). Becker apparently did not leave behind too many works, but those that have survived leave little doubt as to the talents he possessed...

Watercolor on paper, 10 1/4" by 5 1/4" (15 1/2" by 10 1/2" framed), the subject apparently an ornate inner courtyard of a famous Portuguese palace and present day tourist magnet, the Sintra National Palace near Lisbon. I am guessing on this, having googled various possibilities, but comparing the window style, wonderful tile details and the castellated ledge at top, I think the odds are excellent that this be the Portuguese subject...

In the style of the well known Gianni family of artists, is this watercolor painting of the famous trellised terrace on the world famous dramatic Italian coast, signed at lower right "A. Hunt" and titled there "Amalfi". The piece measures 7 1/4" by 13 1/2" (14" by 20" as framed). The work has some oxidation of the paper and a small dig hidden in the coastal promontory at right center but overall it has survived quite well, considering its travels without glass...

An old watercolor on paper laid on board painting of old buildings, with a view to open water beyond the narrow lane. The work is signed with initials "MC" or "ME" at lower left but there is no other information. The watercolor measures 11 1/2" by 9" inside the mat and 18 1/2" by 16" as framed. There is old wood slat backing remaining. This might well be a scene of old England, perhaps Cornwall, but it is really hard to say more as to the locale portrayed...

Late 19th century painting of the Roman Colosseum, an historical arch and surrounding gardens and park, signed at lower left "Conti". The piece, which measures 6 1/2" by 4 1/4" inside the mat, and 13 3/4" by 11 3/4" as framed in polished, shiny reddish-brown wood, displays exceptionally fine detail despite its small size. The colors are sharp and fresh and the paper not oxidized...

Nicely executed little watercolor of a woman in her nineteenth century finery, 11" by 7 3/4" as newly framed behind quality Tru Vue glass, unsigned. Her dress looks like circa 1860 but I do not know for sure that this would have been painted then. It would make for a pleasing addition to a woman's bedroom or sitting area.

Watercolor on paper painting of creamy roses, 17 3/4" by 14 1/2" as simply framed, signed at lower right "Vivian E. Tiedemann" and dated there 1907. This is a typical turn-of-the-century work by an amateur artist, though, a skilled amateur. Such watercolor paintings of roses were popular in the Victorian era and even into the early new century, artists continued to paint them in oil and watercolor. This example is in excellent condition...

Watercolor painting of the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy, circa turn of the century plus or minus a few years (bears date, apparently 1902, extreme right corner), 11 1/4" by 20", (20" by 28 1/2" as framed), signed at lower right indecipherably. The signature appears as "Bonary" or something similar. The painting was executed on paper, which has oxidized over the years, there being a definite browning now...

This is an unusually fresh vintage watercolor, 10 3/4" by 20 1/2" (18" by 28" as framed), dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, by the noted American artist DAVID JOHN GUE (1836-1917). The colors are bright and there is no foxing nor moisture damage. ALL PHOTOS ARE TAKEN THROUGH NON GLARE GLASS so actual painting is sharper and more attractive than it appears through the blurry glass. The subject matter is likely an east coast beach...

This Vincenzo Loria (Salerno, Italy 1849-1939) 23" x 12" unframed watercolour on (cardstock) board depicts a Neapolitan fishing boat on the water. An excellent painting for its play of light and detail, it is signed V. LORIA NAPOLI in the lower left corner. This painting does have some condition issues - a stain in the sky on the upper left, a few tatters on the extreme edges, some browning and minor fading, and some woodworm holes on th...

Watercolor on paper of herons or egrets in a marshy area, measuring 21 1/4" by 29 1/4" (54 cm. by 74 cm.), in a 1" wide modern era frame. The painting is firmly signed in ink at lower right and dated 1905. This is, judging from auction records I see, **one of the largest works by this noted Belgian impressionist artist**. Offered together here as a pair, are two watercolors in vertical format, 6 3/4" by 3 5/8" inside the mat, (11 5/8" by 8" as framed), each signed at lower right by the noted Italian watercolorist artist UMBERTO ONGANIA. Ongania's works are almost instantly recognizable by virtue of their detail, handling of light, and technical excellence. He was a consistent artist, and worked exclusively or nearly exclusively in watercolor, providing portable souvenirs for 19th century travelers making the Gr...

The quality of the drawings is excellent. Most certainly these floral studies are by an accomplished hand. They have survived a century in excellent condition. An excellent alternative to prints, if you're looking to add some botanical images to...
