Banka Maruyama was a Japanese watercolor artist whose work spanned the Meiji, Taishō and Shōwa periods. Today, his work can be found in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.

A watercolor of a lighthouse on the Maine coast, 9" by 13" (15" by 19" in wood frame), signed at lower right by artist Donna Sabaka (1946-). On the reverse is written "The Nubble Light"/York/Cape Neddick, Me.". The artist signed again there and wrote "Kennebunkport, Me. 1986". The lighthouse is in the extreme southern portion of Maine, in the heavily visited coastal strip of that state---a large tourist draw in summer...

Original untitled watercolor by Rika Schwimer (aka Schwimmer). An Israeli artist born in Poland, Rika Schwimer has been described as Israel's foremost watercolorist. Her work has been exhibited in her native Poland, as well as in France, Israel, and the United States. This painting retains its original gallery frame. It is signed twice l.r. 13" by 19" painting alone, 22" by 28" in frame. Excellent condition.

Fruge painted mostly watercolors and was a familiar and beloved part of the Jackson Square tourist scene in New Orleans for decades. He painted mainly French Quarter scenes but also on occasion works such as bayou swamp landscape...

The work measures 19" by 13" inside the mat and 33" by 26" as framed. Surprisingly I do not see any information online on the artist; perhaps a more vigorous search will turn up something about him and his endeavors as a wildlife artist. The work, despite its depiction of a Southwest scene, was acquired in Maine...

A work signed at lower right, of the noted Bermudian artist ALFRED BIRDSEY (1912-1996), the full sheet measuring 19 1/2" by 24" (26 1/2" by 31 1/2" framed behind glass). Birdsey was a familiar figure in Bermuda for decades, a prolific artist, the works of whom traveled home with tourists to the island. This would account for the wide distribution of his distinctive work. Today his daughter continues the family tradition, with similar looking paintings being sold to visitors...
