Watercolor and ink drawing of the iconic world-class sight, the Parthenon atop the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. The work is signed in red in Greek at lower right and there is an inscription in Greek handwriting on the reverse. Measurements inside the deep blue mat are 10 1/2" by 7 3/4" (16 1/2" by 13" in simple undistinguished strip frame). The artist has captured with considerable skill a sight that will never be forgotten by anyone who has seen it.

A PAIR of Mid Century watercolor paintings of central Paris (guaranteed original work, not prints), one featuring the Arc de Triomphe and environs "(L'Etoile"), the other a peaceful view of the quai along the Seine River. Each work is signed at lower right "Van Lod". Other similar works by this artist are seen but his/her identity is something of a mystery. The drawings measure 16" by 20 1/2" inside the mat and 24 1/2" by 28" as framed...

THREE Asian (Chinese, I think, but possibly Korean) watercolor on silk paintings, each 9 1/2" by 11 3/4" (14 1/2" by 18 1/2" in gold framing), contemporary/late 20th century, featuring classic Asian landscapes of dramatic hills and tea houses and pines, making for a very decorative trio for your Asian-inspired interior. The painting's subject is a pink-walled home at left with two palm trees growing in the yard, a view to the water at right center. The painting is laid down on a board, and the gold overmat is glued down on top of it, so, were there a signature/date, it is hidden by the mat...

He was the student of the famous romantic painter Anreas Schelfhout and is best known for his landscapes. His watercolors are rare and valuable. Old American watercolor painting, early 1900's, featuring a leafless tree in what is apparently late autumn, a flash of color in the middle distance giving an indication that winter has not completely arrived. The work appears unsigned. Measurements are 15 1/4" by 10" and 18 1/4" by 12 1/2" in the old frame, which shows wear. The watercolor itself has survived the decades in good condition.

A small nicely worked watercolor painting of a sun-washed plaza in a Greek town, a man leading a mule in the foreground. Measurements are 7" by 4" (drawing itself) and 13" by 10" framed. The artist signed in red at lower right, presumably in Greek. Condition is excellent.

By well listed HENDRIK GERRIT TEN CATE (1803-1856) is this 9 1/2" by 13" watercolor on paper painting (15" by 19" as framed), laid long ago to a card, the subject a few chickens pecking the soil in front of a ramshackle thatch roofed structure I would think might be a barn or out building, except for the telltale domestic woodsmoke venting from the roof. The painting is actually signed "H.J. ten Kaet" at lower left...

This is a work of listed Finnish artist NIKOLAI BELIJ (1896-1968). I do not know a lot about the artist; most of the information about him on the net is in Finnish or Swedish. Works by him have been offered at auction in Scandinavia...

This is an atmospheric fine little watercolor on paper painting of mountains and water such as might be found in the idyllic Lakes District of the northwestern part of England, or the famed Scottish Highlands, unsigned, late 19th century most likely, measuring 4 1/2" by 6 1/2" (14 1/2" by 17 1/2" in the present framing). The work is in very fine condition. I think that the present mounting situation (just protection) could stand some improvement, as the painting is on a card, a mat not overlap...
