**One of a number of Venice works in my shop** Watercolor painting of a classic Venetian view including canal gondola and the famous church in the background, 4 1/2" by 7 1/2" (10" by 13 1/4" as framed without glass), signed at lower right corner "G. Romanello". This is a twentieth century work, perhaps from the 1950's, or, possibly, earlier. I do not see a listing for the name...

Rudy Burckhardt famous photographer and painter (Swiss-American, 1914-1999) watercolor and pencil on paper depicting a nude female standing with chair in original gallery frame painted in cream enamel. Signed lower right. Press notice on the back from the gallery where this painting was purchased it is also signed by Rudy, it states that the art in this show was painted in the woods where he was staying in 1973. Measures 12 3/8" x 9 5/8" + 1/2" (1.2cm) frame.

A vintage watercolor by an unknown amateur artist, titled at bottom "Santa Barbara Mission", unframed, measuring 14 1/2" by 11 3/4". The work on old paper would appear to date to maybe the 1930's or early 1940's at latest---think the "Route 66" era of travel in the American West (though this site is not on or near Route 66). It was likely created by or for a tourist. Note the Native Americans at center in the reflecting pool or fountain...

Watercolor on paper, 13" by 21 1/2" inside the original gold over mat, 20 1/2" by 29" in its original goldish frame (no glass), apparently unsigned, the subject the dramatic waterfalls of the tropics----Iguassu Falls on the Brazil/Argentina border, perhaps, or Victoria Falls in central Africa. Unfortunately there is no title or location given, though these would be good guesses...

This is a small Balinese watercolour painting by local painter, signed Widana, from Kelating, size 13 inches by 8.5 inches, scenery of lady farmers in the padi field working together. A. Rattner, German artist was born in Munich German 1864 and worked his whole life in the region of the black Forrest. Best known for his poster illustrations he was beloved so much by the city of his birth that they chose him to represent them at city festivals 19x15 inches

A watercolor painting of a tall pagoda, 20 1/2" by 11" (24 3/4" by 15" framed), signed at lower right by artist JI WON CHANG and dated 1968. This being a common Chinese name, it is difficult to tie this work to a particular artist, and there are no apparent auction records under this name. Nevertheless we see a competently created work, in a difficult to master medium; consider the complex fleshing-out of the tower's detail...

An accomplished watercolor of a spooky old Victorian house on a city block, signed at lower left by artist JOHN W. ATTERBURY and dated there 1944. The work measures 14" by 20" (24" by 29 1/2" in old stained oak wood frame). Titled in pencil "Yellow Windows" at lower center, the artist has created a work with very American qualities, and reminiscent of Edward Hopper's strangely empty and lonely structures, or perhaps those of Charles Burchfield...

For the Orientalist art collector, this is a fine little drawing in pencil and watercolor, 5 1/2" by 8 1/4", (10 1/2" by 14" in its vintage frame), the subject an apparently Middle Eastern scene of classical temples set into a hillside. It has been suggested that this could be the famous Petra, Jordan site of classical antiquity. The work, glued to a sheet with "Ackermann & Co." blindstamped into the right corner, is unsigned...

Old watercolor on paper painting, a study of trees by a lake, the artist likely American, circa 1920's, 13 1/4" by 8 1/2" inside the old mat, possibly signed at extreme lower right corner but it is indecipherable. There are old framer's instructions on the reverse side. The work was found framed and the frame is possibly available to the purchaser at no extra charge, but it is worn and tired. A fresh framing job will do wonders for this fine old watercolor painting.

A striking modern watercolor and ink drawing signed at lower right in Hebrew by listed Israeli artist HANA LEVI (1914-2002). The work, 19" by 27" (27" by 34 1/2" framed) is elegant, with subdued color palette consisting of black, gray, conservative brown and light green. The artist is listed, and works are offered at auction, many closely resembling this one; though, there seems to be some confusion in the marketplace...

There is an askart listing for the name but an internet search has yielded little information; apparently he had some connection to New York so was an individual of Japanese ancestry working in America. Attractive, vintage watercolor painting of colorful flowers in a sunny garden, measuring 9 1/2" by 14" (16" by 21" framed). This lovely work is apparently unsigned--I have opened the backing to peer inside and see neither signature nor any other information besides numbers in pencil. The painting does have some age. The artist clearly had an excellent command of the watercolor medium. The custom mat with hand drawn lines and silvery border adds to the appeal...

A watercolor drawing of the famous (since 1862) Cafe du Monde in the old Vieux Carre (French Quarter) of New Orleans, Louisiana, signed at lower left by listed American artist PIERRE MENAGER (1894-1973).
