In this simplistic but expressive study, a girl with soulful blue eyes stares directly at the viewer while wearing a large yellow hat with flower. This is an ORIGINAL WORK, not a print, by the famous American artist EDNA HIBEL (PLOTKIN), recently deceased at age 97 in Florida. The painting of two young figures, one evidently playing a lute-like instrument, is a mixed media work (oil and watercolor) on silk which has been laid down to a Masonite panel. It measures 29" by 17" (37" by 25" framed including a linen liner). Hibel was born in Boston of Jewish parentage and educated in art at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School...
