Joseph (Jusepe) Ribera, Spanish, 1588-1656. This exquisite portrait of a boy brings to mind Caravaggio. It is oil on canvas and signed faintly with the Monogram J R lower right. It is in good condition, has been relined long ago, and is 34.2cm H by 23.1cm H. It is in an antique frame with outer dimensions of 47.3cm W by 36.8cm H. A wonderful pair of miniature portraits of two young near identical twin boys, painted on organic material. Although it might often be a decent bet that any attractive English portraits of young children done in this time period were by William Egley (joking, sort of) I cannot, in good conscience, make that attribution, so the artist will, at least for now, remain unidentified.

Possibly Scottish, and in excellent condition, each portrait has a sight size of 1 7/8" by 1 1/2"...

Oil on canvas still life painting in a very minimal modernist style, with lots of white background giving the painting a very contemporary, airy feel, 18" by 24", in strip frame, signed in pencil somewhat illegibly at lower right. The signature appears to start with "Sarah" or "Sarai", the last name likely beginning with a "T". Painting is in fine condition overall though I note several small smudges at lower center...
