By the highly underrated Japanese-born artist most closely associated with Minnesota, YAMADA BASKE (1869-1934), this is an early, ethereal 1904 watercolor landscape with tiny figures on a Japanese-style foot bridge, and nearby trees, in the spring, painted in a dreamy, reverie style with delicate light colors. Being so light and intentionally blanched in style, it is very difficult to photograph. The work measures 17 1/2" by 11 1/2" (24" by 17 1/2" framed)...

Oil on canvas laid on board, 19 1/2" by 14 1/2" (22 1/2" by 17 1/2" in simple wood frame), the subject a courtyard of the Vieux Carre (French Quarter) of old New Orleans. The painting is a fine impressionist rendition and is larger than many of Kinsey's typical courtyard and street scene studies. The artist, ALBERTA KINSEY (1875-1952) is considered one of the founders of the New Orleans art colony...

Impressionist painting signed at lower right with conjoined initials "MP", unframed, 24" by 18", the subject three female black dancers, two wearing festive hats. There is considerable energy in the scene and the stylized figures are by a trained hand. The painting likely dates to the 1960's or possibly 1950's. There are some light abrasions at lower left, a flaked area near the extreme lower edge there and another small edge loss at top, and light overall soiling.

Watercolor on paper, 9 1/8" by 6 3/4" inside the mat (14 1/4" by 11 5/8" in its simple green frame), unsigned, the subject a Spanish (most likely) church tower with arched and arcaded breezeways. I've opened this and don't find a signature nor other information. My best guess is that this would be one of the famous buildings in the south of Spain, such as Granada, Sevilla, etc., though I suppose it possible that it could be elsewhere in the Mediterranean region...
