Born in 1954, David Gallegos’ work has been featured in Architectural Digest, Smithsonian, and displayed in a number of prominent museums and galleries, including SFMOMA, Stanford University Art Museum, University Gallery in Chicago, Legion of Honor in San Francisco, and the Hobart Gallery in Santa Barbara to name a few. One of two works in my shop by apparently the same artist, (acquired at different times---the other JB01670): a watercolor on paper, 10 3/4" by 7 1/2" (17" by 14" in its simple green frame), signed illegibly (faint, at lower right), the subject a Spanish (most likely) church tower, the foreground dominated by impressive arches and columns. I have included three photos of the faint signature and leave it to the viewer to try to decipher it...

This painting c 1998 originally came with the limited edition book and graphic 1/400 but is no longer together. Wonderful image of his main character . Size 18 by 24" monogram signature on front left , the same location you can see in the limited edition having text . Originally purchased at Centaur Gallery.

Watercolor painting of roses in a pitcher, candlesticks and furniture completing the arrangement, an interesting patterned light from the window panes streaming in at an angle, signed at lower right by contemporary artist "T. Williams" and dated 1998. The work measures 20 1/4" by 27" (31" by 38" in wood framing). This is extremely clean and fresh and ready for display. I do not have a handle at this time on the identity of the artist, but the work was purchased in San Diego.

Large terracotta sculpture we named "Leaf Tree Man". The body is stylized tree bark with a green glaze wash. By West Coast artist Dirk Dahl, the statue is signed by the artist and in excellent condition. Measures 24 inches high, 16" long. Weighs about 18 lbs.

This print Z-446B was one of a small number of creations that he put on hard, gold-edged board. Daniel Tretiak wrote that these prints “were printed first on very thin paper, which was then ‘wrapped’ around heavy shikishi board. They are lithographs not done from wood blocks. Done in 1999, this work measures 7.25in x 8.25in, is in excellent condition, and one of an edition of 77.

Apparently unsigned watercolor on heavy paper painting of an arid landscape in the American Southwest, including a distant mountain, barbed wire fencing at a dirt crossroads, and fading evening clouds, 14" by 17 1/2" as framed in a faux burl frame. When I first saw the image I was reminded of some of the watercolor art of Peter Hurd---the memorable scenes he painted of New Mexico. There is no evidence that he painted this one, but perhaps the artist was inspired by Hurd's imagery...
