Oil on pine wood panel, 6 1/2" by 8 1/2" (11" by 13" in old frame), unsigned, the subject figures in a clearing surrounded by feathery trees, a tiny brush stroke also indicating the presence of a scampering dog accompanying the small party. A charming old antique work in the Hudson River tradition; disappointing not to have found a signature, but I would think the artist listed. The painting has normal old light soiling, and the frame has some edge chips missing in a few places...

James Abbott McNeill Whistler 1834-1903 American This is an original etching by American artist James M Whistler. The title is "Eagle Wharf", this image was created and printed in 1859. Signed and dated within the plate. The image measures 5 7/16X8 5/16 inches. It is printed on a thin Japan paper which is rare. This is the only known state before the plate was cancelled. By the famous and prolific English 19th century dog artist EDWARD ARMFIELD (1817-1896), this is a classic painting of no less than three terriers chasing a rodent down a hole, and, apparently, finally cornering him there. The work, signed at lower left, is titled on the reverse overlap in the hand of the artist (also signed again nearby by the artist on the overlap) "Caught At Last" (great title!!). The oil on canvas measures 12" by 16" (17" by 21 1/4" framed)...

An antique oil on canvas, 19 1/4" by 26 1/2" (27 1/2" by 34 1/2" in gold frame), featuring the oft-painted view of the Wetterhorn peak (3,692 meters) in south-central Switzerland, above the village of Grindelwald. The work is signed with initials at lower center and dated 1859, but to date my efforts to tie it to a particular artist have been unsuccessful. The painting has extensive craquelure in the sky at upper right portion, and there are two small losses elsewhere...

The surface though stable is dry, and there is soiling and no varnish present...
