This impression is from the first state of three with the Remarque of a Woman in Profile. The image measures 9 3/4X5 5/8 inches. Hand signed in pencil, printed on a Japon type paper. Numbered as 1/30.

Lauber, Joseph, 1855-1948, New York. This oil on board is an impressionist style painting of a Woman in a flower Garden with Fruit Trees. It is 5" by 7" in a 2" period frame There is a Salgamundi Club label on the back. Lauber worked for Tiffany Studios and was known for his stained glass windows. He is listed in Who was Who in American Art, Fieldings, Mallett and was a student of Karl Muller, Chase, Shirlaw and LaFarge.

This is a beautifully executed work in charcoal, 18" by 15" (19" by 16" as framed), the subject a young girl, staring out at the viewer, likely wearing her school uniform, circa 1930's or 1940's, I am thinking. A mourning portrait miniature attributed to John Henry Brown of an attractive young woman with blue eyes and long curly hair. The painting is in excellent condition with no problems. The velvet lined leather case is also in excellent condition, with normal and expected light wear to the exterior. The white flecks in the photographs are dust motes, and not present in person. Sight size is 3" by 2 1/2", and the case size is 3 5/8" by 3 1/8".
