Oil on canvas laid on board landscape painting of a small structure by the bay or sea, several figures milling around, 12" by 16", unframed, signed at lower right corner by listed early California artist BENJAMIN RABORG (1871-1918). Raborg was born in Missouri but came to be known around the turn of the century in San Francisco for his painting ability. The nephew of early California artist A.D.M...

Colorful contemporary Central American or Brazilian landscape painting of a hillside village with figures, animals, tropical vegetation and a church, 7 1/2" by 10 3/4" (15 1/4" by 18 1/2" framed), signed at lower left with what appears as "Mitaki". The work is highly decorative and in excellent, wall-ready condition. Considering the architecture, landscape, and black-appearing tiny figures, I would lean towards the work being of perhaps northeast Brazilian origin, (Natal or Salvador area).

Oil on canvas, 16 1/2" by 28 1/2" (20" by 32" framed), the scene a Mediterranean California style courtyard garden complete with fountain pond, palms and other vegetation, signed at lower left by the artist, one Daisy Dean Lucas, and dated there 1938. A google search shows an interesting tidbit concerning a woman by that name in Kern County, California, estranged from her apparently wealthy husband and attempting to sue him in the year 1937...

This is a difficult to describe painting----we see a beach on a summer's day, the blue sea beyond; budding clouds, a spiky yucca at left, and what look at first like children's sandbox toys in the sand, until it appears that maybe they're not children's sandbox toys. The "tower" at right looks more like a Greek islands windmill, the "sail" a takeoff from the yucca. There's also a starfish, a bucket, a brightly colored striped beach ball--and a difficult to make out signature...

This is an antique miniature color print portrait of Emperor Napoleon III of France, dating back to approximately 1900. The portrait is meticulously crafted with a gold outline, set against a black background, and showcases the Emperor in his full glory. The portrait is well-preserved and protected by an exquisite ebonized wood and gilt frame, adding elegance and grandeur to the piece. The frame is also fitted with glass to ensure the portrait remains pristine...

Original old photo of the imposing Palace of Fine Arts building in the Marina section of San Francisco, the photo originally in a brown tone, enhanced tastefully with light blue tints. The building was erected for the 1915 Panama Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco, and the complex is all that remains of the construction undertaken for that event. Today it and the park-like grounds remain a graceful and familiar part of the San Francisco urban landscape...

Three fine engravings of Mount Vernon, Monticello, and Independence Hall, nicely mounted and framed together vertically. The framed piece measures 16 1/2" by 11". These appear to be the same images that appear on US currency, and the very high quality of the printing (intaglio?) is similar. One wonders if these have been produced by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, either as printing proofs, or perhaps as official souvenirs to be sold in a gift shop setting...

Oil on thin canvas painting of a classic American Indian with chief's feather headdress, executed in a charmingly naive style by an amateur artist around the year 1960 I would guess. The work measures 17" by 14" in its oak simple sturdy frame. When purchased it was behind broken glass, so has survived in excellent, clean condition. There might be a signature "Viv" at lower right corner...

Oil on canvas or board behind glass (not examined out of frame), 15 1/2" by 21 1/2" (25" by 31" as framed), signed at lower left, and inscribed there "Bettys-y-Coed" (not dated). This is a well known and picturesque part of Wales, an area that attracted many artists in the 19th and early 20th century. The artist may possibly be the listed EDWARD or EDWIN Masters. The works of those artists have sold at Christie's South Kensington auctions in London. Condition is good as it has been protected...

A contemporary painting by a talented anonymous artist, the subject a church stained glass window, with Gothic arches and impressive detail, including the names of the saints pictured. The work measures 14 1/2" by 11 1/4" (21 1/2" by 18" framed in black). Condition is excellent, I note a tiny chip at lower left frame easily painted black. The artist invested a lot of time in creating this and the former owner installed UV resistant glass to prevent fading. Allow for reflections in a few imag...

**ONE OF THREE ORIGINAL WORKS BY THE ARTIST IN MY SHOP**Gouache on thin board, 16" by 14", unframed, the subject a young girl wearing a flower-bedecked hat, signed at lower right by the listed California and Illinois artist MARGO ALEXANDER (1894-1965). This is a whimsical and very feminine subject that would be a fine addition to a lady's dressing area perhaps. The artist studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and exhibited at the Golden Gate Internati...

A circa 1960's to early 1970's oil on board painting in earth tones of dark brown, tan and cream, unsigned, 9" by 22" as framed in black with gold and an orange velvet liner (pure 60's!). The imagery could be purely abstract though to me, a skyline and reflection of that skyline in water is suggested----such as Manhattan from the New Jersey side of the river. A very Mid Century addition to your interior.
