Gorgeous large vase with a velvety matte finish shading from white to pastel blue. The pattern is diamond quilted design with white lining inside the vase. Circa 1895. Pontil is smooth ground polish. EXCELLENT CONDITION!

Offered is this beautiful, 'Osiris'-type art glass vase with applied handles, made most likely, by Stevens & Williams in England, around 1890. Probably the 'Pull-up' machine, invented by John Northwood (when he was Artistic Director at Stevens & Williams), was used for the zippered pattern on the vase. The vase is 9 inches (23 cm) tall and 5 inches wide. It is in good condition. The handles on the vase fluoresce in a gentle-green coloration, typical of 19th century soda-lime glass...

The painting was attributed to Momokawa Meiho. Ink on paper. No framing. The painting depicts a peaceful scenery of a valley and mountains.. No signature. Good condition, except for some small cracks of the crisp paper.

Large, iron figural standing mirror, c.1870. Very decorative - cherubs, women fairies, flowers, hearts, & torch and arrows make up this intricately designed mirror - see photos. It measures 15" wide by 16" long and is extremely heavy. Metalwork is in excellent condition but mirror can use some re-silvering, if desired. Would sit on a dresser but has a back loop for hanging. Teapot, milk jug, cup and saucer, a solitaire service made by the Carl Knoll factory in Czech Carlsbad / Karlovy Vary. Cross-striped like the Victorian bathing-suits – just a coincidence or might there be a thought behind this design? Carlsbad was a fashionable 19th century spa, famous for its hot springs. Impressed mark for 1848 – 1868. Height of teapot "4 ½ / 11 cm including handle, diameter of saucer "5 ½ / 14 cm. Condition: a nick to the cup (cf. pics).

Japanese scroll painted with ink and colors on silk depicting a spotted stag by a stream among reeds under a moon about to be obscured by clouds. Great composition with alert beast looking into the background hidden in beautifully depicted mist. Wonderful quality realistic painting, superb brushwork - see the detailing of hairs on its coat. Ishii Kinryo(1842-1926) was a Japanese painter active during Meiji(1868-1912) - Taisho era(1912-1926)in Japan. He was a pupil of a prominent artist Furuichi Kinga(1805-1880) and Okamoto Shuki(1807-1862). Kinryo travelled all over the country and taught students at his art school after he got back to Okayama prefecture...

On a cold October day in 1977, an auction of the former estate of Dr. T.D.M. Wilson of Washington, Pennsylvania, took place. The last surviving relative to live in Dr. Wilson's former 1890 mansion had moved to smaller quarters, and many artifacts reflecting the Wilson's family history had to be auctioned off.

Wonderful birds, stars, and flowers patterned coverlet of wool and cotton hand woven in two sections and signed "MADE BY D.SNYDER HANOVER TOWNSCHIP NOR T.CO 1840" and is signed on the four corners with fringed edges. The coverlet has birds on three side and flowers on one side. The colors are red, blue, and mustard on an off white background. This is a decorative early 19thC Chinese Famille Rose porcelain plate, the soft white ground wonderfully painted with enameled birds, butterflies, and flowers. Measurement: 8 in.; Condition: Good with some gilt wear to rim and several rim chips.

She is the turn of the century Chinese Goddess of Mercy and Hearer of all Prayers. She is beautifully detailed, right down to her fingers and the beads around her neck. She has a traditional hair style and long flowing robes. She is depicted carrying a lotus flower and standing on a bed of lotus blossoms and seeds.
