Vintage Korean front opening bandaji (storage chest) decorated with white brass hardware incised with fish and yin/yang designs. The front drops open to reveal three interior drawers and a removable shelf above a large hidden lower compartment. Complete with the original functioning key and lock, which is finely incised with a calligraphy motif. Side carrying handles. Unlike many of the pieces in the genre of Kyo-ware, this tea bowl is decidedly demure in appearance. Milky, flowing glaze pools in places along a backdrop of ivory and coral pink sides, contrasting nicely with the rough, unrefined clay of the base. In the center of the kodai is a decorative swirl pattern reminiscent of the yin and yang.
The potter, Kanpu Kawanabe (1873 - 1947) was born into a family of weavers but went on to be trained in many of the arts related to tea ceremony...

This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany by Meissen in the mid 20th century. The saucer has a diameter of
4 1/4 inches and the cup is 2 inches high. The cup features an entwined branch handle. The set is decorated with brightly colored flowers, realistically hand painted. The flowers on both pieces match. There is gold trim on the rims.
Condition: Excellent. This is a first quality set.

Kokeshi, folk toy of NE Japan. Wood, height 10". Made by Sugawara Toshi, born Showa 13 (1938) and passed away in December of 1992 at the age of 55. Akiu Onsen is a hot spring resort not far from the city of Sendai. It is thought to be one of the oldest kokeshi-making locales in the Tohoku region where all traditional (dentou) kokeshi originate.

A sweet sterling silver baby ring and teething rattle. The central silver piece shows Peter Rabbit sitting in a high chair enjoying a bowl of porridge. The back side can be engraved with the baby's name. The rattle is suspended in a lucite faux mother-of-pearl teething ring. These rattles are very difficult to find with no monograms or other engraving. Peter Rabbit rattles are among the most uncommon designs by Webster.
