This is a rare, late 19th century American carved walking stick. This stick features two color glass eyes, a signed sterling collar and a Malacca weighted shaft. The ferrule is brass and doubles as a mechanism which lets a dog run in circles without tangling - how great is that? This ingenious stick measures 36 3/4 x 4 1/4 x 1 1/4. Vintage Chinese watercolor by Russian artist Yastriez. Yastriez lived and worked in Shanghai in the early 20th century. A boat glides down the river under a bridge. A large verdant tree is on the river bank. G. Yastriez is signed in the bottom right corner. It measures 17.5" tall by 13.5" wide, image 6"7/8" wide 10" tall. Matted with blue and white.
The bouquet of flowers for this stunning silk fukusa was made using yuzen resist dying, free-hand embroidery, and gold surihaku, with gold and silver foil couching applied to create the bow. On the reverse side is a large mons (family crest). Three of the four original silk tassels are still intact. As a decorative item, this fukusa would make a fabulous wall hanging or framed artwork. In excellent condition, we estimate this fukusa to be mid Showa. It measures 26” wide x 29” high...
