An English Bursley Ware bowl by Charlotte Rhead, 1940s, of square shape. Slip-glaze decoration in the Carnations or T. L. 40 pattern in blue and gilt on off-white, marbled ground. Factory mark and TL 40 = pattern number and the mark of the painter who applied the raised decoration, Mary Powell. Height "2¼/ 6 cm, width (diagonally) "4¾/ 12 cm. Condition: fine. Please note that all the little dots and accents that unfortunately look brown on the photos are really in gilt.

A mid 20th century Tokoname vase with dragon decoration. This example is a red ware production from the historic tile kilns. A dragon is depicted in low relief among stippled clouds. Extensive gilding remains on the dragon's scales and other places. Bamboo form handles. Key borders outside the foot and mouth rims and floral border under the mouth rim. Good condition. Anonymous. The Kwan Yin is holding a wish granting pearl and a ruyi scepter; both represent the powers of Kwan Yin who is thought to grant wishes and aid sentient beings. This boy's coat resembles the famous green chapan worn by Hamid Karzai, the current President of Afghanistan. These coats are worn in Central Asia including Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, etc. This chapan is woven in silk with a blue cotton shibori inside lining in plain weave, with the inside lapel in brown cotton corduroy. Superb classically-shaped vase with scavo texture and subtle iridescence. The scavo vessel is 11.5" tall and is in excellent condition, unmarked.

A four panel coromandel screen with four porcelain panels set inside the screen surrounded with mother of pearl inlay of various human subjects set within a landscape. Each porcelain panel contains a short inscription describing the scene. The next line contains the date when the panels were painted (summer, year of the earth snake or approx. 1929). The last line contains the signature of the artist, Yu Zhushan, and that the painting is inspired by the style of Yilu Jushi. Age: Republic Period...

Slender and elegant vintage modern glass Nerox lamp by Ermanno Toso is constructed of cool blue and green opalino murrine. The colors remind me of the cool tones of the Venetian Lagoon which has inspired glass design in Murano for centuries. I've seem a pair of this design sell at auction for $9000.! The lamp measures 28.5" to top of glass and 40" to top of bulb socket, is in good condition, and would look great with a slender cylinder shaped shade.
