Shiko Munakata (1903 ~ 1975)

Seated Figure. Here titled by the artist, "At Columbus" (コランバスに於て). Also signed by the artist and dedicated in pencil in Japanese at the top right, "to Ms. Ryuko Sato".
Munakata's famous 1959 United States lecture tour took him through Ohio. On the tour, he was known to carve one-off woodblock prints on the spot at gatherings and present them to hosts or guests, as once described on the Antiques Roadshow...
This really pretty crystal clear Candlewick Handled Basket was made by Imperial Glass. The Basket measures 6 1/2 inches wide X 5 1/4 inches across the bottom. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or cloudiness. The streak in the glass is from the flash. Be sure to search our other Candlewick available. Fenton Rose Mist Pitcher was made in the early 1960's as part of their Vasa Murrhina collection. It is about 5.25" high. This syrup does have some "schmutz" on the interior side of the top opening. A minor inconvenience, but I must include its presence. These are impurities within the making of the glass.
Fenton Blue Marble 9" Bowl Rose pattern is in mint condition. Made in the early 1970's. It is 9" wide and about 3.5" deep.
This is a really cute 5 inch high SLICK CHICK Gourd Vase made by Pennsbury Pottery. This Vase is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or scratches. The painted decoration is all very good. Melusina or Melusine is a heroine in medieval European folklore. This figurine is a modernist version of her transformation into an often two-tailed mermaid or fish. Unglazed stoneware and gilt hairstyle. Little is known about Y-Keramik other than the workshop was situated in former Western Germany and that the gilding was made of 24 karat gold, this information available on paper labels on other Y-Keramik figures from the 1970's. This porcelain tea cup & Saucer was produced in Japan by Noritake in the early 1900s. The
“Kormoru” mark was registered in London in 1908. Items with this mark were made especially for the English market and were of superb quality. The saucer is 5 1/2 inches in diameter.
