A wonderful sterling and cut glass muffineer measuring 8 ½ inches tall. The glass is by Pairpoint and is cut with sprays of foliage and is mounted in sterling fittings by Spalding & Co.. The underside of the sterling foot is marked “Spalding & Co., Sterling, 925/1000, 164.” Spaulding & Co. of Chicago was incorporated in 1888 and was then taken under the control of Gorham in the 1920s. The muffineer is in beautiful condition.

Support has ribbed knop. Foot raised with applied foliate medallions with polychrome enamel. Foot rim encircled with animals scurrying along leafing branch (also applied). Striking and unusual.
