Being offered is a circa 1940 sterling silver salad set by William Spratling of Taxco, Mexico. Handwrought servers with allover spot hammering; an applied flattened ball at the end terminal of the handles; hammered bowl and tines. Dimensions: fork - 9 1/4 inches long by 2 1/4 inches wide; spoon - 9 inches long by 2 1/4 inches wide. No monogram. Marked as illustrated in photo. In excellent condition. Typical of Spratling, great design, construction and weight.

It is signed with Portanier's distinctive monogram near the base. In excellent condition except for a glaze chip near the mouth of the vase. Portanier is one of the most important ceramic artists in the second half of the twentieth century in France.

A lovely Steuben center bowl with reeded diamond optic decoration, low profile, but large diameter. I have not quite placed the color as it does not quite match green or Pomona Green, but I will go with the former pending further research.
Condition is excellent, but may contain a minute production flaw or two. Unmarked but unmistakably Steuben. Shape number is 6774.
