The 1920's and 30's was the age of the cocktail party, and the jewelry was characterized by vivid colors and sparkling diamonds. Cuban influences helped guide art deco design toward strong rectilinear geometry. This diamond ring is classic art deco. It is almost a full inch long and .5 inches deep at its widest. The platinum band has engraving.

French Art Deco 18K/Platinum very well crafted diamond and black onyx ring. The center Old European cut diamond is .55 carat. The clarity is SI2 and the color is H-I. The diamond looks larger and is quite striking against the black onyx. There are six rose cut diamonds on each side (12 total)with a total weight of .24 carat. Hefty highly ornate big bold wide cuff weighing 56 grams of silver with high relief designs. Signed or marked "SRS" and 800. Possibly from South America? Same one at other sites sold for more! Much chased Flower, Fruit, Leaves Scroll details with lots of rich darkening in the crevices that makes the almost punched out designs jump out.

Interesting early Deco gilt metal pendant of Chinese shape. The front with an enameled motif of a lady with Chinese hairstyle busy with needlework in front of a smoking scenser, all within a keyfret border. The back with a cracked ice border surrounding a willow tree and ducks in a pond. Probably French, around 1920. Width "1 ½ / 3.7 cm. Condition: fine, except for a darker spot to the back, visible from a certain angle (cf. last photo).

A fun Arts and Crafts Period round brass and copper covered box. A prominent cherry blossom decoration adorns the top - outlined by the studded brass cover with etched decoration - explosing a hand hammered copper surface. Etched vine decoration also around the side with copper banding and studs. Not sure if this is Western or Japanese production - the Arts and Crafts Period starting and extending later in Japan...

A Siam style budha cast bronze head made at Bien Hoa professional School in Vietnam circa 1930. Nice reproduction and beautiful patina. The Bien Hoa school was created in 1906 by French administrators who, seeing Vietnamese art and culture disappear during colonization, wanted to safeguard this important Vietnamese artistic heritage. The school was therefore created, it housed hundreds of Annamese students who became sculptors, painters, ceramists, cabinetmakers etc.....
