Magnificent Ko Iga flower vase made by Zoroku Mashimizu (1861-1936)

Zoroku Masashimizu was born in Kyoto with the childhood name Jutaro.
After his father passed away, he devoted himself to pottery under the guidance of his mother, Chika. In 1882 he succeeded to the name Masashimizu Zoroku. In 1884 he received a medal at the Kyoto Exposition. He also won the first gold prize at the Nanto Expo. In 1917 he moved his kiln to Nishinoyama, Yamashina Ward, Kyoto City.

Clifton Karhu became one of the most successful contemporary Western artists working in Japanese woodblock style. Highly unusual ovoid flower vase with an art deco decoration of four pairs of Native Americans standing face to face in war dress. Above and below decorative bands of repeating plant motives. Inside cream colored glaze.

This mask represents a tiger, note a very fine work of sculpture with the gouge, the deep carvings are highlighted with a white coloring. Vintage Chinese wooden stand of rectangular shape with 4 short legs. Beautiful dark dense rosewood with wonderful patina, in excellent condition, good object for a scholar’s desk. Size 114 x 87 x 37 mm.

Decorated in "blood and milk" palette with gilding at the center with furniture and precious things, the border with four reserves of similar objects on a gilt and decorated diaper. The base holds a double circle in underglaze blue.

A rare antique Chinese apple green Peking Glass snuff bottle with stopper. The bottle has rounded shoulders and a thin carved oval shaped foot. The jade lid with a coiled dragon and bone spoon. Chinese glass was largely used to imitate more precious materials such as white jade, Lapis Lazuli and other valuable minerals.
