Antique Chinese low cabinet. The upper portion has two drawers over a compartment opened by two cabinet doors. The doors swing on wooden dowel hinges which seat into small decorative carved peony flowers. The interior of the cabinet has one shelf. The front is finished with a rich red lacquer while the sides and top are a dark, distressed reddish brown lacquer finish.

Kokeshi, wooden folk toy of NE Japan. Height: 7". This is an example of "Goroujou" tradition of Iwate Prefecture. It is also a rare example of extant pre-WWII kokeshi. It was made at Yumoto Onsen by the artisan, Fujiwara Masagoro, who was born in Meiji 16 (1883!) and passed away at the age of 64 on June 12th, 1947 (Showa 22.) Original limited edition silkscreen print “SIX-BANDED ARMADILLO” by Hideo Takeda (born 1948) from the Altamera series - one of a set of 10 prints each depicting an animal skeleton. Printed in 1994, signed by the artist in gold crayon and numbered 94 from of the edition of 120. The series name refers to the Cave of Altamira in Cantabria, Spain known for its Upper Paleolithic paintings of wild animals...

This very well carved ivory erotic netsuke of two couples is 2 5/8” long, 1” high and a little less than one inch thick. It is dated to the 1960’s. There is a carver’s signature on the bottom.
