A Gorham Art Nouveau sterling silver swing-handle basket circa 1900. This lovely American basket measures 6-3/8" x 4-7/8" across the basket and it stands 7-1/2" to the top of the handle. It has a sinuous Art Nouveau floral design and it is stamped STERLING GORHAM MFG CO 1984/6 on the bottom. DESCRIPTION: A Qing dynasty bamboo pipe, possibly used for either opium or tobacco, with a bulbous body crafted from a large segment of giant bamboo. Mounted onto this segment are heavy brass fittings, one for the tubular tobacco bowl with its long brass shaft descending into the body. This unusually long necklace is composed of graduated undyed pink coral beads of slightly compressed spherical form, ranging in tone from light pink to a deeper salmon color. The clasp is an egg-shaped reticulated bronze with a wedge-shaped catch that have both been gilded. Good condition overall with a soft wear and polish to the beads.

A wonderful mid Edo Period (1603-1868) Hiragata Ao-Oribe Chawan with a rounded brim, made of light, coarse, unrefined Mino clay. The expertly thrown body was trimmed with a potters knife and covered with the typical green copper oxide glaze inside and outside.

The tea bowl is in fine antique condition with no cracks or repairs and comes with a very good Japanese wooden box.

Size: 6 cm height x 15 cm in diameter.
