Marine ivory okimono depicting Shoki grasping an Oni, who is attempting to take a rolled scroll on top of a box. Shoki holds the demon with one hand while in the other he holds a sword, a symbol of his courage and his will to protect what is sacred. Signed under the Gyokushi base. Decorated under the glaze with stylized patterns and concentric circles in iron oxide. Skillfully wheel-thrown and rests on a slightly flaring foot. Well-formed lid is surmounted by a circular knop with a yellowish-brown iron glaze. The interior and foot are unglazed. There are minor areas of glaze degradation on the top of the lid from burial. Some minor wear, small old chips to the interior lip of the bowl. Some evidence of burial earth remaining...

Chinese 18th Century Export Qianlong period porcelain Peacock design Spoon Rest or spoon tray, later part of 1790, circa 5/8" high, 4 7/8" wide 3 1/4" deep, overglaze Peacock design in the center, iron red line border on the scalloped hexagonal shape rim. The bottom is unglazed. Few kiln imperfections on the rim but no damages or restorations.

Antique Japanese wedding kimono (uchikake). Made of beautiful silk brocade originally intended for an obi. Gold and green with woven pattern of pine, bamboo and chrysanthemums. The lining is sewn of red silk and the hem is padded. Meiji Period. Size: 61" high x 47 1/2" wide (sleeve to sleeve).

This set of 10 porcelain luncheon plates was produced in England by Royal Worcester in 1901. They have date ciphers indicating this year. They were made especially for the high end retailer, Ovingtons, of New York. They measure 8 inches square. They are all artist signed by S. Stanley. The plates are made of the finest quality bone china. The borders of the plates are ruby red with an adjoining 1 3/4 inch area of ivory color ground...

A rare shape Yuan dynasty Persian blue and white large bowl, rounded side with deep center and unglazed base, bowl decorated with fine under glaze persian blue of continuous flower scroll motif at the exterior, inner rim with classic scroll motif, inner center with flower motif. Bowl has been broken and restruck, almost complete with very small missing part at the rim, please see piture detail.

Hagi ware, also known as Hagi-yaki, is a type of traditional Japanese pottery that originated in the town of Hagi, located in Yamaguchi Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, Japan...

A very nice mauchline ware wooden hinged box decorated with seven Washington, DC scenes. American scenes are more difficult to find than English or Scottish scenes, and to find seven different images of the Washington DC area is most uncommon. The box retains its original blue silk lining. With the exception of Mount Vernon, all the buildings had been completed only 5-15 years before this piece was produced.

Origin: Scotland, ca. 1890. Dimensions: 7 x 4-7/8 x 3-7/8 inches.

This is a finely carved Mid 19th Century Japanese Netsuke depicting two seated Karakos who are back to back to each other; one playing the Flute, and the other wearing a Shishimai mask. Wonderful rich patina. Unsigned. Netsuke measures 1.23 inches (3.1cm) and 1.25 inches (3.2cm). Netsuke is in excellent condition, as may be seen in the posted photos.

An uncommon silver tastevin, the bottom inset with a Mexican silver coin featuring the likeness of King Ferdinand VII of Spain, the last Spanish emperor to rule over Mexico. The coin is dated 1821, the year Mexico became independent of Spain. The tastevin is constructed in classic French style, with a coiled snake handle, but it lacks the embellishments usually seen on French examples. The bowl is simply decorated with a hammered surface...

Size: 16 cm wide from spout to handle. Good condition except small chipped at inside the lid. (please see on the pictures).

Chogappo made of fragments of ramie which is recycled from old textiles. Pojagi is the general name for the wrapping cloth and "chogappo" is one kind of pojagi which is patchworked with asa (choma or hemp) fragments. (Reference source: "Korean Embroidery and Wrapping Cloths from the Choson Dynasty" published by Japan Art & Culture Association in 1995). Both warps and wefts are hand-plied. Hemp or ramie ones are for wrapping summer clothing...

A Japanese Arita dish decorated with scrolling flowers, a central roundel of ( possibly ) passion flowers. The base with four spur marks and an apocryphal Chinese Ming Jiajing reign mark.Circa 1700.

German Meissen Porcelain Ming Red Dragon Vase with German hallmarked Silver mounted on top rim, Ca. late 1800's, 5 5/8" high, 2 3/4" diameter-top rim, 2" diameter-bottom rim, with Ming Red Dragon in flame. Meissen underglaze Blue Cross Sword mark plus red numbers and impressed letters and numbers marked on the bottom. The condition is good.
