Offered together as one lot, THREE pewter antique plates: one 8" diameter, bearing touch marks of London pewterer Samuel Ellis (1721-1773) and cursive initials "M P"; one, 8" diameter, no touch marks but antique initials, a primitive "P G" cut into the surface on bottom (and, considerably heavier than the other plates); finally, a plate of 9 1/4" diameter, no markings...

Chinese Neolithic Painted Pottery Jar - Machang (c. 2300 - 2000 BC)
This twin-handled pottery jar was made over 4,000 years ago during the Machang Phase (c. 2300 - 2000 BC) of the Majiayao culture, also known as the Gansu-Yangshao culture, from present day Gansu or Qinghai province. It is relatively highly-fired and made from a buff-coloured pottery with a smooth burnished surface. It has a wide body and two loop handles joined at the waist and upper neck...
Finely carved and once elaborately painted, this antique figure was probably from a small shrine. Clearly used and handled over the years, piece still has some areas of original paint. Some residual of an inked signature on bottom. carving may be of a monk or other religious figure. Stands about 2 inches high.

Elaborately incised with Islamic inscriptions and arabesques within three cartouches wrapping the body. The base is flat and unmarked. The was raised from heavy sheet silver with the hammer marks being clearly visible on the interior. The exterior has a soft polish with a few areas of old tarnish / oxidation. As would be expected, there are no silver markings, but it is probably in the low 900s...
Superbly and detailed antique agate carving in the form of a gourd with leaves, smaller gourds, and a bat. In East Asia the gourd is considered an auspicious plant and in China the bat is synonymous to the word fortune in Chinese. Hence, the motif is often seen in various works of art. This deep blue Japanese cloisonne vase is decorated with 4 panels. Two of the panels have a dragon against a rust colored goldstone background. The other 2 panels have a bird against a dark green goldstone background.
Vase is in very good condition, no chips, no dents, and no losses.

The base is festooned with “thumb” marks.
The body is decorated with three medallions depicting a woman. A type called Trichterhalskrug in German.
This stoneware pitcher was made in the Siegburg region in the 15th/16th century. It is covered with a fine salt glaze.

A small Chinese silver box with a hinged lid displaying a bird amongst flowers. This lovely box features open cut work in broken ice pattern on all sides. In very good condition, it measures 1.75 inches wide, 1.75" deep, and 1" high. Circa 1900.
Late Corinthian kylix decorated on both sides with geese flanked by griffin-birds. The geese turn their heads back. The griffins show crested heads, sickle-shaped wings and protruding tail feathers.
Black-glaze design on buff ground, incised details, red color on the wings and for some dots applied on the necks.
The kylix belongs to the Workshop of the Bird-Frieze Painter...
