These plates were produced in Germany by KPM Royal Berlin Manufactory before 1920. They are 8 1/2 inches in diameter. The porcelain borders are cut out or reticulated in a lattice type pattern. They are hand painted in the style of Meissen. The flowers are colorful and realistic. You can see the veins in the leaves and the texture of the flower petals. A unusually elaborate pair of pottery figures of female Attendants, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD.), dating to late Ming period c. 1550-1650 AD.



The ladies are dressed large thick robes, with imposing hairdresses. One is wearing af fan, the other is wearing purse in front of her chest. Both are standing on round plints. They are glazed in torqouise and dark blue colours.

Substantial 9k double headed snake ring featuring pink sapphire laden tops, carved gold eyes and a modern looking chic open work gold band. A large oval-shaped Islamic box made of solid sterling silver, which was crafted by hand in the 19th - 20th century in Egypt, which was then part of the Turkish Ottoman Empire. The box is exquisitely designed in the Traditional Ottoman Turkish style, featuring floral decorated panels that are finely chiseled in repoussé. Antique Japanese screen painting (byobu) in two panels with a view over a garden fence. Tall white chrysanthemum flowers blossom near a stand of small blue Matsumoto asters. In the background is a mist of silver leaf. Painted in mineral pigments, raised gofun and silver leaf on paper.

A Song or earlier pottery or proto-porcelain ewer, the tall neck with concentric raised bands running around,the c-shaped strap handle with twin raised beads to the outside, a short spout to the other shoulder. A very rare pair of ironwood chairs also know as Tieli mu. Ironwood has been used with huanghuali items since the Ming Dynasty. In all the years that I have been collecting Chinese furniture, this is the only pair of ironwood chairs I have come across. Ironwood is usually been confused with jichimu. Chinese 18th Century bronze censer. The base cast with a sixteen-character inscription incorporating an apocryphal Xuande date, reading Da Ming Xuande wunian Jiandu Gongbu guanchen Wu Bangzuo zao (Made by Wu Bangzuo, supervisor of the Ministry of Works, in the 5th year of Xuande of the Great Ming). 26,5cm wide. 6458 gram weight.

Important mask of Mahakala, with a fierce expression, his forehead surmounted by a sort of diadem sustaining a range of tiny skulls . Finely embossed iron, with detailed features, and polychrome pigments to enhance some of the mask parts (eyes, teeth, skulls). A thin textile of red colour is affixed to the inside of the mask, probably to protect the dancer's face. Tibet, early 19th century.Height: 24 cm. The mask is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Three turtles bronze incense burner.

In Japan, the turtle (kame) is considered a symbol of wisdom, stability and luck. Tradition has it that it brings protection and 10,000 years of happiness because of its longevity and the slowness of its movements. In the Taoist belief, the turtle symbolizes the world: its shell represents the sky, while its body represents the earth.
The use of incense was introduced in Japan at the same time as Buddhism...

A pair of Staffordhire copper lustre creamers or milk jugs / pitchers. Early Victorian Rococo revival shape and pretty decoration of vines against an orange background. Height: "4 3/4/12 cm. Condition: one with some crackling to the glaze (cf. pics).

Ming Dynasty Chinese Bronze Quanyin composed of two sections, a Lotus petal base with a detailed rendered religious figure on top. Condition is generally excellent with small repairs to one finger. The base is not original to the figure but is of same period.

Red Lacquered Safe with Beautiful Metalwork with auspicious symbols: a tortoise lock (symbol of longevity),peach drawer pulls (a symbol of longevity), the diamond-shaped Seven Treasures symbol, floral scrolls throughout, and the wan (the wheel of life and symbol of universal peace and harmony) is a symbol so ancient it actually predates Buddhism and originally represented the revolving sun. This is a fine example of an Indus Valley culture decorated pottery vessel. It has a chip to the rim as well as a repair which should be visible in the photos. Otherwise it appears to be in great condition with no other apparent damage or repair. It is roughly 16 cm tall and 13 cm wide.

Chinese 4th Rank Court Official's silk badge of a wild goose. The background is black silk and is embroidered with very fine metal threads. The sun and its tendrils are silver foiled threads tacked down with red silk threads. The flowers are also silver but tacked down with green silk threads. The flowers appear to be white chrysanthemums, a symbol of nobility, elegance, and longevity. Each flower encompasses a display blue forbidden stitch knots to create the effect of pollen being dispersed...

Pale blue slip Pratt Ware pitcher with sprigged decoration c. 1810 A very well decorated bulbous pitcher with vertical sprigs of grape vines and a plant with green leaves and blue flowers (?) with a molded and decorated spout, blue bands and a molded stepped base. It is approx. 4 inches tall and 6 ½ inches from the spout to the end of the molded handle. A blue ground mug with similar grape vine is illustrated in John and Griselda Lewis Pratt Ware 2006 edition page 211.

The beaked iron grip lavishly inlaid in gold overall in alternating bands of vinework and beading, the pommel with concealed container has a hidden compartment probably for storing poison in case of being captured. Impressing black Raku tea bowl, signed Kichizaemon, of the Raku family.

The signed box is labeled “10th generation”, which means Tan-nyu (1795-1854). It represents true Japanese Chado, made from of one of the most famous potter clans in Japan. Most pieces of Kichizaemon Tan-nyu are hold in museums.

A properly dressed Chinese woman would wear a pair of leggings that would cover her foot bindings from her lower leg to the top of her lotus shoes. The leggings would be tied into place with a hand woven sash made specifically for that purpose. These lotus shoe accessories are now rare and very hard to find.

This antique Japanese small drawstring fisherman's bag is woven from hand rolled cording using indigenous natural plant fibers. It would be used for carrying home the catch at the end of day. The bag shows some areas of staining and one small area near the bottom where a few fiber cords have split. these condition areas are to be expected of a folk art item of this age and use. ,,,,,

the bag is roughly 10 x 12 inches and has a generous amount of cording for adjustable straps.
