19th century kagamibuta (mirror lid) netsuke with multimetal disc worked in low relief scene of a man drawing water from a well, his wooden bucket next to him. Excellent crisp work, wonderful face, gilding, inlaid copper bucket, great patina. Beautifully turned marine material (walrus tusk) bowl with excellent patina. Disc diameter 1 5/16 inches, bowl diameter 1 7/8 inches.

Hares hold an important place in Japanese myths and superstitions. As many other animals, they were believed to reach a fabulous age and become blue at five hundred.

An uncommon and fine Chaffers saucer and teabowl in the "Two Men on an Island" pattern.
A workman's mark of three dots is on the reverse on the saucer.
This finely potted blue and while porcelain is in superb condition, with no chips, cracks, staining, or restoration. Any apparent paint losses in the photos are due to reflections. The saucer is 4 7/8" in diameter and the cup has a 2 3/4" diameter at the rim and is 1 1/2" tall.
A good sample of Yuan dynasty copper red under glaze yuhuchun vase, rounded side with pear shape body and glazed base, vase decorated with under glaze copper red of flower motif, vase is excavated from trowulan east java.
Vase condition is broken into several big pieces about 30 % missing and has been restored into original condition, please see enlargement no 6 for picture before restoration.

A very nice earlier Shan Duck or Hamsa Bird with old bird? verification mark at the hexagonal base. Smooth neck, one spike on the top and ear-shaped wing.

Very precise and decorative carving and painting of a deity seated on a tiger-cat, inside a high throne with dragon, all in black, red, gold and laquer, Qing dynasty, late 19th.-early 20th. century.
Size: c31-30,5 cm. tall and 19,5 cm. wide.
Condition: Near Extremely fine, some fine wear to laquer and gilt, very sound and heavy wood, chip to his beard on left side othervise completely intact!

Edwardian Classical sterling silver trinket box. Made by Howard & Co. in New York in 1901. Oval with straight sides and flat hinged cover. Leafing scrollwork applied to sides and cover top, which also has centrally mounted cherub’s head. Reeded rims with applied leaf border. Fully marked including maker’s stamp, year, and no. 1465. A charming example of Abraham Parsell's ability to capture the essential characteristic of a sitter and portray them in a wonderful naïve manner. In the miniature portrait presented here we have a young man with striking blue eyes and a mound of curly hair. He is attired in a dark brown jacket, black vest, and white tie and shirt.
The condition of the painting is excellent, with no cracks, chips, bowing, fading, etc...
Interesting blackstone seal with low loop handle and a carving of XXX inside linedecoration, Mesopotamian, late Ubaid period (5500-3700 BC).
Oberlánder dates this seal to the 3rd. millenium BC, we're certain that it's a much earlier and made in the later Ubaid period (5500-3700 BC).

A Chinese white porcelain snuff bottle, probably Dehua, known in the West as ‘Blanc de Chine’. The moulded body, each side decorated with a central roundel of flowers surrounded with a pair of bats and a Shou character. The stopper, missing its spoon, appears to be faded purple stained soapstone. The thin body is very translucent and inside there are traces of former contents.
Approximately 5.8cm high. Perfect condition...

Three years ago I published a Members' Window in ASCAS newsletter devoted to the Warsaw silver plate factories Fraget and Norblin [1]...
Very fine ornate sterling silver server for either fish or ice cream. The handle is covered with a pattern of hibiscus flowers and swirling foliage. The floral element is echoed in the beautifully engraved floral pattern on the blade. The blade is finished off with a very ornate outline. Many American silversmiths did not mark their names until the early 20th century, and the back is marked only "Sterling."
