Late 18th century netsuke of Rihaku seated leaning on a large wine jar with one hand and holding a wine cup in the other. Rihaku (Li Po in Chinese) was a celebrated, probably the most famous poet of China equally renown for his love of wine. Strong early carving, wonderful face and detailing of his clothes, of typical early triangular section. Wonderful feel of age, excellent patina. Height 1 1/8 inches.

This is a fine Japanese Satsuma sake pot or small teapot. It is signed by Kinkozan. Still retains part of the original Kinkozan sticker on the underside of the lid. Which means this piece was never used as a saki or teapot. It measures 4 1/2 inches across at the spout. The handle is slightly tattered but the pot is in excellent condition.

A rare antique Vietnamese four-legged Censer from the Le dynasty. (Later Le Dynasty, Vietnamese Nha Hau Le, (1428–1788), the greatest and longest lasting dynasty of traditional Vietnam.) A matched pair of baluster shaped vases, decorated in under glaze blue with seascapes, bridges and pagodas. Both with four-character Kangxi mark to the base, typical of the Kangxi revival period, the latter part of the 19th century. Height "5 1/3/ 13.5 and "5 ½/ 13.8 cm. Condition: nicks to the rim of one vase, the other with a brown-stained needle mark to the shoulder (cf. pics).

A very rare and fine Japanese Satsuma water dropper in the form of a Kyoto style saki pot. Delicately painted with figures and flowers, it is supported on three tiny feet and signed on bottom. In excellent condition, this treasure measures a mere 2 5/8 in diameter and about 1.25" high. Dates Meiji Period, 1868-1912.

Pair of Chinese late Qing dynasty Guangxu period ginger jars with domed lids decorated in bright famille verte enamels with paradise flycatchers among peony flowers, rockery, and flowering plants set against a yellow ground. A stylized ruyi form band extends around the circumference of the top. 7 3/4" high x about 7 1/4" diameter. Circa 1900. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is a small brown production flaw to one lid.

Cheerful Chinese large bamboo brush pot featuring several scenes which consist of a boy and girl feeding five little biddies (chicks), a man dancing, a dog barking, and 4 boys playing hide and seek. All in a garden setting with a fence and mountainous rocks. In very good condition, there is some old insect damage to the base bottom rim. See last photo. Measures 6.75 inches high, 5" diameter. Dates circa 1920's.

A miniature vase, decorated in underglaze blue with garlands of grapevines. China, Yongzheng to early Qianlong, 18th century. Interestingly, the same decoration has been found on many of the blue and white plates in the cargo of Swedish East Indiaman Götheborg which went down just outside the town with that name in 1745. Height "3 ¼ / 8.3 cm. Condition: an old restoration overpaint to the mouth rim has been removed to leave just the filling (cf. pics).

Below this are two drawers held in place with a locking bar (with key). The bottom portion has two smaller drawers and a safe box in the lower right hand corner with two small interior drawers. Antique Japanese single section isho tansu (clothing chest). Kiri (paulownia) wood front with sugi (cryptomeria) wood frame and drawer interiors. Three full-width drawers, the middle drawer is 3/4 width with two small drawers to it's right hand side. Blackened iron hardware includes moko shaped drawer pulls and round lock plates.

A rare pair of original Japanese six panel screens depicting the four seasons of Ginza. The panels are painted in the traditional Kano school. Using exceptional technique, the images are hand painted with natural rimpa paint and ink and gold leaf ground on gofun paper. The six panels depict the seasonal landscape of a Ginza garden. Excellent overall condition.

Painted with rimpa paint on an unique mix of gold and silver leaf gofun paper, which gives the screen an incredible look and balance of cold and warm tones, depending on lighting. Lovely Chinese basket most likely woven by the Zhuang or another of the many ethnic minorities in Guangxi Zhuang, China where I bought this over 20 years ago. This woven from split reed stalks and has a nice soft feel to it. This piece is quite old, 50 to 100 years (best guess). It has an unusual trapezoidal/oval shape and I like it for its sturdy simplicity. Minor unraveling of some of the weaves here and there but in very good condition given it age. A monochrome porcelain Vietnamese bowl from the 14th-16th Century. The clear ivory glaze has an incised design of a flower with 2 lines above it. The exterior of the bowl has a carved lotus pattern that extends to the bowl's small footing. During the 14th century, a second stacking method for firing was introduced using a ring-shape separator. It became the preferred stacking method by the 15th century. Vessels fired using this method have an unglaze ring on the inner base. The stacking process...
