Antique Japanese unusual tansu made from a very attractive Keyaki (elm wood) burl coated in original lacquer finish. It has drawers of varying sizes, with warabite shaped iron handles, the top and bottom drawers have decorative iron lock plating incised with a floral design, safebox in bottom corner with original key. Unusual size with stunning original finish and exquisite iron work.

A Chinese silver fan, gold plated and decorated with multicolour enamelled panels against a filigree ground .The guards are cast with scenes of figures, all sharp and crisp. The back of the fan is not neglected either; it is embellished with the same decoration, thus making it a visual joy from both sides. A pair of silvered bronze tripods, Jue, an archaic type of vessel used for heating and serving wine, the shape originating from the early dynastic periods B C. These little elegant pair of Jue is from the early 19th century, made of silvered and engraved bronze or brass. Height "3½/ 9 cm. Condition: original handles shortened and some wear to the silver coating (cf pics.).
An elegantly proportioned and executed Georgian wine flute, of lead metal. The drawn trumpet bowl sits above a double series opaque twist (DSOT) stem which is comprised of a pair of spiral threads around a central gauze. Conical foot with rough, snapped pontil.
The condition of the glass is excellent, with no cracks or chips. Good color, striations, and tool marks. There is a very small pot stone at the foot rim. Any discolorations, specks, or streaks are due to the photos...
Zushi or shrine with inside a wooden sculpture of an erect penis dressed in the typical dress of a palace groom, using the grain of the wood to accentuate belly and knees. Fertility symbol, probably used / displayed during local fertility festivals. Also classified as waraimono - things that make you smile. Japan, Meiji era, around 1900.

Zushi with a lot of wear. Sculpture in fine condition; was formerly glued to another base plate.
Very small double side zushi with inside the images of the Buddha Amida Nyorai and on the other side a Bodhisattva holding a covered jar. All doors painted with lotus flowers in water on a golden back ground. The zushi itself made of kiri-wood (Paulownia), which is known and used for its fire resisting qualities. Very special piece. Japan, Edo period, 18th century.

Superb late Meiji Period C.1900 bronze lamp that used oil and wick. Absolutely spectacular bronze craftsmanship and detail from floral vine lattice on the door and side panels to the treasure symbols in fine relief around the base. H:49cm; diameter:30cm. A bronze figure of Buddha standing on a platform that flares outward at the bottom. Traces of gilding. Holding His robe on his left arm. The facial features are simple - almost primitiveness in nature but charmingly expressive.

Condition: Protruding features have some wear. Has a nice patina which, under magnification, reveals that it had originally been lacquered and gilded.
A silver 17 century overlaid Buddha from Burma. These Buddhas were buried under the Stupas as an offering to the shrine. Size: H. 10cm. W. 6.7cm. Condition: Some flaking of the silver overlay. Original head has been re-attached back on.
A nice simple cutwork heart that is 3" by 2 3/4". It is set on the black paper but is not attached to it. The color is a very soft pink to mauve and white . There is a slight bit of foxing that shows up more in the pictures than it does by sight. It is unframed and they way I bought. Circa 1850-70.
