Rare and important mask of Defender of the Buddhist Faith, with an aggressive expression, bulging eyes, open mouth showing fangs, sun and moon symbols on forehead, stylized beard. Wood, with traces of kaolin in the recesses. Himalayan Region, Bhutan or Tibet, 18th century, probably earlier. Height: 14 1/2" (38 cm). The mask is mounted on a custom wood stand. Old accidents, erosion, otherwise good condition. Provenance: Old American collection.

Chinese porcelain vase decorated with scrolling strings, peaches, and bats. In some areas, the vase contains the stylized character for happiness. The bottom of the vase contains an inscription reading: Guang Xu Nian Xing. Age: 19th-20th century. Size: diameter 9.5" height 13.5"

A set of three carvings of three different types of birds. One appears to be a falcon and another a magpie like species. Each bird has been carefully carved and painted making birds to look alive. Age: 20th century. Size: length 3.75" width 1.6" height 2.25"

Jade carving of a bat spreading its wings on one side and on another side a coin shaped motif. Bats are considered to be an auspicious animal where the name is synonymous to fortune in Chinese. The coin contains a four character engraving possibly reading: Fu Shou Quan Shuang, or roughly translated as having both fortune and longevity. An archaic style Chinese jade object in the style of Han burial Jade objects. In China, collars where made separately from the robe or garment. As such, the so-called cloud collars were used much like a necklace, allowing a single collar to be worn over various robes. This is a traditional Han Chinese style collar dates to the Qing dynasty period. The background fabric is white silk, bordered with black rolled trim. The collar is very finely embroidered with silk thread using predominately the satin embroidery stitch...

Beautiful Chinese bench, carved all of hardwood with inset areas of dramatic burl, rectangular marble in center of back, arms and back carved with scrolling key fret motif, elegantly curved legs, Republic Period. Total size: 40 1/2" x 53" long x 23" deep. Size of seat: 19" high x 47" long x 19" deep.

A large, perfectly potted porcelain bowl, brightly enamelled with bats and Shu characters ( longevity ). The Famille Rose decoration done in an excellent quality. Jiaqing underglaze blue Seal Mark and of the Period ( 1796 - 1820 ). Diameter : 17,9 cm. H : 8,2 cm. Condition : Absolutely perfect.

Unmarked, but likely Minton, soft paste porcelain covered sauce tureen "Feuille de choux" pattern with a rose finial. These knock-offs of 18th century Sevres were popular from the mid-19th century (c.1850)onward and Minton made many very good ones. With the lid it is 5 1/2 inches (14 cm) tall, 7 1/4 inches (18.4 cm) long, and 4 inches (10.2 cm) wide.

Condition: The lid has no damage and slight wear to the gilding on one edge...

Heavy brass letter opener with a fully repoussed handle. There is a face on both sides at the end of the handle. It is made to look like a barbed dagger or sword. It measures approximately 9 inches long and at its widest, it measures 1.25 inches. The overall weight is 152.5g. It most likely dates to the late Victorian era; it is unmarked and in very good condition.
