TWO WOODEN BOWLS

Scooped out from pine tree blocks, actually once used as the grain containers of Korean everyday ware, early 20th century, D 21.5 x H 20cm (8.46 x 7.87in), D 18 x H 7.8cm (7.08 x 3.07in). Smoothly trimmed by chisel for the stability of each bottom. Aesthetically grain is coming out as well. Solid make, with some scratches, cracks, stians, etc...

Japanese large Satsuma square section vase; shows heavily-gilt polychrome Geisha and children surrounding the piece with details of the clothing picked out in colourful moriage diaper work; a flock of cranes are on the wing under the rim; signed to the base; good condition

Attic red-figure askos decorated with a dog and a panther crouching on the domed top. The animals face the spout and are seen with one foreleg raised.
The panther has turned the head towards the viewer and shows a spotted coat.
The shallow vessel shows a low dome-shaped top, the small flaring spout raises obliquely from the shoulder; overarching handle. The flat base reserved with a tiny mold on the edge.

A fine example of a four knopped double series opaque twist (DSOT) antique wine glass. The bell bowl is over a stem with a pair of spiral threads outside of a central gauze, and with an annular knop and three ball knops. Conical foot with rough, snapped pontil.

The vast majority of opaque twist glasses have straight stems, and the addition of even one knop adds substantially to the difficulty of making them, and to the value. Each additional knop increases these factors...

A very rare and superb hand made genuine QING DYNASTY SILVER BOWL, with extensive open carving work and depicting the Dragons chasing the flaming Pearl. The base is stamped by a Chinese Hallmark: "SS, followed by a Chinese Character and 90, SUN SHING" as shown in one of the photographs, ca. 1900. Weight: 199 gr. excluding the inset glass bowl. Size: height 7.6 cm. x 13.5 cm. diameter. This silver bowl also has a later added glass inset bowl, which can be removed for easy cleaning!

Silberiris glass vase by historic Loetz with engraved silver overlay. Globular with pinched shoulder and ruffled turned-down quatrefoil rim. On front overlay in form of loose and fluid blooms on entwined and whiplash stems. Back plain. Glass iridescent yellow, green, blue, and purple. Shimmering turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau. Pontil mark. Excellent condition with nice patina.

Antique Tibetan gilt bronze figure of the Bodhisattava, Avalokiteshvara. The Luminous Lord of Infinite Compassion sits in padmasana position with his hands held in front of his chest in the complex dharmachakra mudra. Circa 1830 from Pennsylvania, this pieced cotton quilt features the North Star pattern. All hand stitched, it has strong geometric shapes. Colors are red, white and various purples. A little worn around the edges, color is still good, considered to be in very good condition commensurate with age. Coverlet fits over a double bed. From the estate of Mike Biggers.

Attractive & massive stone Mortar and Pestle / millstone with ground stone, carved in Vulcanic rock and probably used for spices, perhaps with ritual purposes, Javanese hinduism in Indonesia, c. 9th.-11th. cent. AD.

The mortar carved in the shape of a roofed temple and with broad legs.

Size: 32,5 cm. long and 16,8 cm. wide and 11 cm. tall. Quite heavy! The pestle is c. 20,8 cm. long.

Condition: Choice Very fine and intact with fine wear from use and old age.

A very large black stone stamp seal with high relief engraving, Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Ubaid-Uruk period, 5th.-4th. millenium BC. According to notes from the collection, this seal was found in Tell Halaf!
