This pair of porcelain plates was produced in France in the late 19th century. They are 10 inches in diameter. They have hand painted portraits of Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI. There is an artist’s signature "Garnier" on each one. The borders are celeste blue which are decorated with ornate raised gilding. These plates are highly decorative and will display beautifully. Rare Pair of Early Meiji Period Large Inu Gosho Ningyo, Japanese Dog Dolls made of lacquered papier mache. Most known examples are 3 to 5 inches in height. Chin Dogs were part of the Imperial court for centuries. They are wearing Imperial lacquered bibs, and are constructed in the manner of Gosho Ningyo. 10 inches (25.5cm) high.

Dating: Early 19th Century. Provenance: Indo/Persia. Slightly curved, double-edged blade, ribbed at the tip, with double fuller, decorated with a gold-inlaid, floral cartouche at the forte; rock crystal grip, slightly curved, with pommel worked as a bud. Dimensions: length, 35 cm.

Museum piece bronze temple lantern dated Bunsei 13 ( Edo Period C. 1830). Inscription on the base reads: Bunsei 13, Year of the tiger, November, Auspicious Day. Gosho - machi ( Gosho village) Shoei-Ji (Shoei Temple). Shoei Temple is a Jodo -shu temple in Nara established in C.1100. It was rebuilt in C.1577.
