This porcelain dish was produced in France in the late 19th century by William Guerin Limoges. The porcelain dish was sold white wear to a studio decorator. It is signed by the artist. The dish measures 11 inches long, 6 3/4 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches deep. The porcelain has molded decoration and a flower form handle. The painting is beautifully done. 19th century Japanese Asakusa school staghorn kiseruzutsu - tobacco pipe holder - carved in a shape of a stem of Fungus of Immortality with five fungus heads. Could serve as nyoi, or Ruyi scepter - traditional symbol of scholarship and transmission of knowledge. Elegant carving, excellent rendition of fungus head textures, superb staining typical for the Asakusa School pieces. Very clever design, excellent wear and patina on the surface. Length 7 1/2 inches.

This is a finely hand-carved netsuke in Kurogaki (Black Persimmon) wood of a Lotus Seed Pod, made as a Karakuri or 'trick' Netsuke in that the seeds rattle and peep out of the seed holes. Netsuke was carved by an unknown artist from the Iwami Province sometime during the Early 19th centuries. The carving exhibits similar material and carving characteristics of a netsuke (Photo #6) made by Seiyodo Gansui (1809-1848)...

Shino pottery is produced in today's Gifu prefecture since 16th century and it is distinguished by thick white glazes, red marks and the surface of small holes.

Pearly white glaze with Sgraffito decoration (relief), pottery bowl with flaring body rising from a short foot. The sides decorated with a beautiful Sgraffito pattern of ovals and center and rim decorated with splashes of brown.

A wonderful Tibetan lama statue, made of gilt repoussé copper, dating from the 18th or 19th century. The figure still has it's original ornaments hanging from the shoulders. H. 30 cm W. 21 cm. Condition: expected age wear to the gilding, a few cracks in the copper. The ornament (probably a bottle) in the lama's lower hand is missing. Very good condition considering the age.
