These porcelain plates were produced in Germany by Meissen around 1750. They have the blue underglaze crossed swords mark from this period. The plates have a diameter of 9 1/2 inches. The rims are scalloped and there is a molded basket-weave type border. The plates are about 1 1/2 inches deep. They are hand painted with colorful fruits and flowers. Three English silver fiddle serving spoons, all three made in London. One is Georgian, the other two Victorian. A beautiful Spode porcelain plate painted with a variety of motifs. The pattern number is not listed in any of the Spode pattern books, nor have I been able to find examples of the decoration. A reasonable assumption might be that this was produced as a "one-off" sample for a larger service that was not completed.

The decoration on the plate includes an exotic bird, shells and feathers, and fruits, an interesting combination to say the least...

A New Hall coffee can and saucer bowl, c 1810. Blue underglaze and gilt decoration of Persian (Paisley) flowers against a "seaweed" pattern typical of the period. Unmarked, but the pattern is registered as number 585 in the production of the New Hall factory. Height of can "2¼/ 6 cm, diameter of saucer bowl "5½/ 14 cm. Condition: a hairline and wear to the gilt, esp. of the can, otherwise fine.

A lovely pair of hyacinth vases in teal blue glass. The classic shape is slightly conical with a widely flaring rim for resting the bulb over the water. These vases are especially attractive because of their rich color. Forcing hyacinths and other bulbs to bloom indoors was something of a Victorian passion that continued well into the 20th century.

This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in England by Worcester between 1755 and 1770. It is a First Period product under the ownership of Dr. Wall. It has an open crescent marking. The saucer measures 5 3/8 inches and is 1 1/8 inches deep. The cup is 2 inches high and the diameter of the opening is 3 inches. The porcelain of both pieces is fluted and has scalloped edges.
