This fascinating English folk art cane is crafted entirely from one piece of hardwood and varnished. The delightful walking stick measures about 36" long with the handle measuring 6.75 inches. Professional walking sticks were designed for professionals such as doctors who wanted to carry a small assortment of medical supplies or tools. Offered for sale is a desireable Civil War era, wide mouth, apothecary bottle sporting “FLOR. CASS.” on the under glass label! I believe that it means FLOWER CASSIA.

The nine inch tall bottle sports the following embossing on the base: "W.N.WALTON PAT'D SEPT. 23D 1862." The fancy, applied recessed label is complete, shows minor age related flaws and is in very good condition.

The bottle has a few unobtrusive manufacturing bubbles and flaws; otherwise no damage...

Antique Japanese Shō, mouth organ (flute) used in Gagaku (classical performances traditionally for the imperial court). A musician blows through the silver lined protruding mouthpiece. The air travels through the bamboo tubes creating notes (said to sound like the Ho bird or phoenix). Skillful musicians are able to blow air in and out of the mouth pieces creating sustained, uninterrupted notes.
The arrangement of bamboo tubes are said to resemble the folded wings of the phoenix.

Nothing represents the decadence of the early 1900s better than this wonderfully crafted 14 karat yellow gold bonbon spoon. The handle has an elegantly elongated wreath design and the bowl of the spoon has been decoratively pierced by masterful craftsmen of the period. The length of the spoon is 4 5/8” and the width at the widest part is 1 7/8”.
