A pair of mythical animals (mother and child) of a creamy jade color. It has small areas of natural brown, light orange and grey coloration and inclusions. The jade is beautifully carved and feels lovely to the touch. The curled tail of the smaller animal forms a round hole which enables a thin rope to be put through it. Absolutely endearing. Very early sterling silver and amethyst brooch designed and signed (c.1930's)by Taxco, Mexico silver designer William Spratling (1900-1967). This is one of Spratling's signature designs. 2 1/4" X 1 3/4". The owls' eyes extend out 1/2". Beautiful vintage conditon with no dents or dings, no chips or cracks to the stones. The piece carries one of Spratling's earliest hallmarks. Pictured in Morrill and Berks' MEXICAN SILVER.

A Ming dynasty 15th century Interregnum - Hongzhi period blue and white bowl, rounded side with everted rim and glazed base, bowl decorated with under glaze blue scenery of Phoenix, human and landscape motif, center with sitting scholar motif.
Bowl is in very good condition no chip, no crack, no restoration.

Early and elegant sterling silver flower pin designed and signed (c.1940) by Taxco, Mexico artist Hector Aguilar (1905-1986). The piece is comprised of layers of sterling petals and measures 2 1/4" X 2 1/4". Aguilar was a designer for William Spratling before opening the Taller Borda.

This Tibetan gau (aka prayer box) is actually a small shrine. When not being worn as an ornament during festivals, it would be kept in the prayer niche of the family home. Gorham sterling silver five-piece tea and coffee service in the Plymouth pattern. Date code for 1958. Included are teapot, coffee pot, covered sugar bowl, creamer, and waste bowl. This set has received little use and retains its original paper labels. No monogram. Size of coffee pot: 9.5 inches high, 2 3/8 pint capacity. Teapot: 7.25 inches high, 2 pint capacity. Excellent condition, with no dings or repairs, requiring just a polish or buffing.

An unusual stone weight with a young boy riding a foo dog. The corners each have little foo dogs playing with their ball. The base has a key fret design. A very rare newly excavated Yuan dynasty blue and white big bowl with mandarin ducks motif, rounded side with flarred rim and unglazed base, bowl decorated with good under glaze Persian / imported blue (Hamadan blue) of continuous flower motif at the exterior, inner rim with classic scroll and center with two mandarin ducks on the lotus pond, the bowl need some restoration.

Description:

An old stone box was beautifully carved on the cover with a five-clawed swirling Dragon and with cloud pattern at the basin.
By a well rendered craftsmanship, the covered box was in a magnificent mood by its astonishing image.
Kept in perfect condition and darken patina, there’re only minor defects found at the whiskeys and at one of the corners of the cover.

Striking handmade sterling silver necklace and detachable pin designed and signed (c. 1940's) by Taxco, Mexico artist Los Castillo. The center section measures 3" long x 3" wide. The detachable chains give the necklace a wearable length of 16 1/2". Excellent vintage condition with no dents or dings. The clasp, necklace chains and pin back all work perfectly.

Very dramatic deeply concave oval shaped African shield from Ethiopia. The animal hide is scraped free of hair and then placed over a shaped board with protrusions which will allow for greater protection in warding off blows. The edge is tightly rolled and there are added tool marks for heightened decoration. The handle is tied and knotted into place at a slight angle to allow for a more comfortable hold.

Shield is 21 inches at the widest point and about 6 inches deep...
