Circa 1930's-40's, here is an early obsidian moth pin from Matilde Poulat.

This is a superb piece, with hand-wrought repoussé silverwork and seven dangles. Centered with a round obsidian cabochon, the stone is truly beautiful, with a glowing gold sheen throughout.

Measures 3" tall, 2 1/16" wide.

Signed and hallmarked "Matl".

A handsome pair of 14K yellow gold cufflinks in the classic button style. Each round face is fashioned as a button, complete with gold stitches. The faces are lightly decorated with a crosshatched surface for contrast with the shiny, raised borders. The toggle backs are marked “14K”.

A handsome pair of double-sided cufflinks, the faces set with with oval brilliant-cut amethysts set in simple 10K yellow gold collets. The amethysts have nicely saturated, even color that would look particularly good with a white or light blue cuff. The faces are fairly large, so they are connected with a removable s-link for ease in putting them through a buttonhole. Tested and guaranteed 10K.

This mid-century necklace was produced by Margot van Voorhies Carr / Margot de Taxco.

It’s a book-piece design, with a stained glass appearance and amazing attention to detail. There are three separate pieces. The center pendant can be worn as a pin, or simply add the two sides to wear as a necklace.

Composed of tiny enamel squares which are black, blue, and teal with light blue within the center of each square.

Circa 1930's to early 40's, this is a crazy killer gorgeous ring and ultimate statement piece from Fred Davis. The amethyst measures 1 3/16" x 15/16, and it is huge. Silver tests out to be just over 97% purity. Quite substantial at a weighty 22.8 grams. Measures a size 7.5 on a ring sizer. Signed and hallmarked with the conjoined FD, Silver, and Made in Mexico. It's in excellent vintage condition. Has never been sized.

An unusual 18K yellow gold pendant in the Sputnik design by H Stern. Most examples of Sputnik jewelry are set with multi-colored gemstones, but occasionally a piece turns up with a single color—in the case amethyst. The design was created in the 1950s to highlight the colored gemstones available from the Stern mines in Brazil. It later earned the nickname “Sputnik” for its resemblance to the spike Soviet satellite launched in 1957. Tested and guaranteed 18K.

A classic pair of Edwardian almandite garnet cufflinks, the oval gemstones set simply in 18K yellow gold collet settings. The faces are attached by chains to torpedo backs. The garnets are of nice quality, having a slightly more orange coloring than is typical of almandite--nearly in the color range for spessartite garnet. Tested and guaranteed 18K.

An elegant pair of Retro 18K yellow gold earrings shaped as bows. Each of the dangling ribbons suspends an old European cut diamond. The diamonds are graded J color and I1 clarity. These earrings would look just as good with jeans as they would a cocktail dress. Tested and guaranteed 18K.

Circa 1940-1945, this is a heavy solid 940 silver bracelet from Hector Aguilar. It's an iconic early design, known as "Fertility". A book piece design, it's shown in the Morrill/Berk book "Silver Masters of Mexico", as well as "Mexican Silver". Executed in 94% pure silver, it's entirely hand-wrought, with deeply incised links and oxidized recesses. Measures a closed, wearable length of 6 3/4", with a width of 15/16"...

This elegant work of art is a 1940's Spratling design. The ring stands a bit over 1" high. The ring size is about 7 1/2. It is in beautiful condition with some surface wear. Hallmarked SPRATLING SILVER MADE IN MEXICO.

Circa 1930's - 1940's, this easel frame is the work of Matilde Poulat / Matl. It's entirely hand-wrought and exquisitely crafted, with two beautiful repoussé birds. There is a faceted amethyst along with branch coral and turquoise and coral cabochons. It's very rare to find one of these frames which was made by Matilde Poulat, herself, in this early time frame, and this one pulls out all the stops. Measures 4 1/4" wide, 3 1/2" tall...

Circa 1949-1953, this is a very rare pin from Antonio Pineda, bearing his "Jewels by Antonio" hallmark. It's a superb piece, with two huge amethyst cabochons on either side of an "X", creating an OXO design. Pin closes with a roller. You can add a pin/pendant adaptor to hang this from a chain if desired. It would make a gorgeous pendant. Measures 2 3/8" x 1 1/4". Depth is 1/2". Weight is 33.8 grams...

A Mexican version of the classic "giardinetto" jewelry, this set of Matilde Poulat earrings is rather unusual with its all-silver vase that holds the flowers...

Circa mid-century, this is a seldom seen clamper cuff bracelet from Margot van Voorhies Carr / Margot de Taxco.

It's a truly spectacular clamper with superb craftsmanship...

A retailer active in the 1930s and 1940s, Ingrid's was - according to Bille Hougart - known for their high quality hollowware and jewelry which they commissioned from the best Taxco maestros...

Margot de Taxco loved combination pin / pendant necklaces and she designed them so that you could take the brooch away and still link the two lengths of chain and wear them alone as an elegant choker. I suspect that many pieces were comprised of inter-changeable elements so if you had this set and a different pin/pendant out of her “hand-hammered” line, for example, you could theoretically attach to this chain and enjoy that second brooch as a necklace too...

A nice Victorian 14K yellow gold watch fob in the form of a pair of dolphin-like fish facing one another. The bodies are scaly and they have ornate flowing gills in the classical manner. The oval seal is engraved with a four-letter monogram and also T. E. Co. 1918. The fob retains its original reeded jump ring. Tested and guaranteed 14K.

Circa 1960's - 1970's, this bracelet by Carmen Beckmann is a superb modernist piece. Produced with heavy gauge silver, it's a sleek slinky bracelet with nine tiger's eye stones. It feels luxurious on the wrist, and it shows up magnificently...
