This iconic sterling silver brooch was designed & signed circa 1950's by Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). The eyes of the dragonfly are finished with a copper wash. The pin measures 2 1/2" across & 2" high. The pin is in beautiful condition. Hallmarked WS 925 eagle #30. These mid-century earrings from Antonio Pineda are large and unusual. The primitive hunter design is said to have been based on the Lascaux cave drawings, used on several of his pieces. I have the matching bracelet in my shop. These dangle earrings are quite substantial, measuring 2" top to bottom, with a width of 1 7/16". Weight is 28.5 grams...

Intricately designed 970 sterling silver bracelet designed and signed by Taxco, Mexico modernist artist Antonio Pineda. Bracelet is 6 1/2"Long X 3/4"W. Beautiful condition with no dents, dings or repairs. Catch is tight and secure. Safety chain attached. This 1950's design called "Armadillo Scales" was featured in the recent Antonio museum exhibit and is pictured on p.127 of the catalog - SILVER SEDUCTION THE ART OF MEXICAN MODERNIST ANTONIO PINEDA.

Lariat necklaces are a favorite of mine and when I come upon a good Mexican example, I make every effort to bring it to One Good Eye Silver. Truth be told, they don't come up as often as other forms but it is an exciting quest to pursue. The late Deco / retro piece I am presenting here is a clipless version - you can adjust it by tying a loose knot at the desired height and change the way it looks whenever you feel like it...

This striking design was created by Taxco, Mexico modernist Antonio Pineda in the 1950's. 20 brilliant tigers eye stones are set into 970 sterling frames. Silver rods tipped with beautifully matched pearls & 2 with silver are interspersed. The central element measures 3 3/4" across & 2 3/4" long at the center. The silver tipped velvet cord measures 29" long. Weighing 70 grams the necklace is in exquisite condition.

This is a very early work from Sigi Pineda, and dates to the early 1950's when he first opened his own shop. The shop was named "Plateros", later renamed "Sigi".

It's an amazing piece, with three huge red coral branches in a modernist setting which is sterling silver with 14k gold plated over it. The gold is perfect and even throughout, both front and back. The coral measures from 2 1/4" to 2 1/16"...

This signed, handsome and distinguished pair is more than fine looking: a heavy rectangular face with polished, horizontal bars that alternate with dark grooves (I believe enamel, rather than oxidized). Next is the Sigi-esque enhancement of a surmounted, polished boomerang. One cuff link is marked Sigi TASCO (each inside connecting ovals) and numbered 38 (or 33). The other cuff link is stamped STERLING HECHO IN MEXICO with an eagle mark of number 96 (the Sigi Pineda eagle stamp)...

Hallmarks date this Matilde Poulat pin to the 1950's. Measuring 2 1/2" wide, 2 3/4" tall, this pin has two stately doves on each side, with a center teardrop amethyst, turquoise cabochons, and five dangles with coral. Pin closes with a roller. Weight is 18.1 grams. Signed and hallmarked Matl Mexico 925 M Reg 10592, along with the eagle assay 129. In excellent vintage condition.

Circa mid-century, this Margot de Taxco ring has exquisite repoussé silver work with scrolls and tiny beading.

This is Margot's design #5337. The face of the ring measures 1 3/8" x 1", with a band that is adjustable. Current size is 9 1/4.

Weight is 19.1 grams.

Circa pre-1960, this necklace produced by Matilde Poulat has a generous length of 23", with a 3 1/4" wide center. There are amethyst stations on each side, with double chains continuing up the neck. The palomas sit next to a vase with turquoise flowers. Length on the center is 2 1/2".

Weight is a substantial 91.1 grams.

Signed and hallmarked "Matl Mexico 925 Patente 10966", along with the eagle assay 129.

Circa mid-century, this bracelet from Margot van Voorhies Carr pulls out all the stops.

A very rarely seen piece, the front features a huge repoussé ribbon swirl, with graduated silver beading running through the middle and through the center of the bracelet. Hinged at the back, with the opening disappearing behind the front portion of the clamper. The spring hinge is perfect, and closes securely...

This classic Antonio Pineda bracelet has the bold sculpted style he is known for with thick and heavy horseshoe shaped links crafted in his favorite 970 silver. Measures 8" long, a longer and hard to find length by 7/8" wide and it weighs a substantial 85.6 grams. In good vintage condition with only light age related wear and minor tarnish. It's a spectacular piece showcasing the exquisite repoussé craftsmanship that makes this maestro's work so sought after. It's fluid and flexible and lays perfectly on the neck.

These earrings produced by Hector Aguilar are a book-piece design, shown p. 87 Silver Masters of Mexico. They have a stunning deco design, with bell shaped pendants which are deeply incised. The recesses are oxidized, and 5 pendants dangle below. Screwbacks work perfectly. These measure 2 1/2" long, 1 1/16" wide. Weight is 19.4 grams. Signed and hallmarked "HA 940 Taxco" with the eagle assay 9. Collector quality.

Spratling gold designs rarely appear on the market. Here he uses hand-carved spondylus shell, 18K gold beads & coral shell to eye-catching effect. Each earring measures 1 1/2" high x 1 1/4" across. Both are in beautiful, original condition. Interestingly, his design embeds 2 extra gold beads into the shell of only one earring. This is an extremely rare Antonio Pineda 970 silver necklace with 11 amethyst drop dangles. The necklace has the "Silver By Tono" hallmark which dates it 1948-1953. A necklace with a very similar design is featured on page 103 of the catalogue from the Antonio exhibit titled "SILVER SEDUCTION"...
