Very fine Victorian gold brooch composed of a coral bar surmounted by a gold grapevine motif, all against a scalloped-edge gold plaque, hung with three cone-shaped gold pendants. The back retains the original tube hinge and c-clasp. There is also a ring for attaching a safety chain. The brooch was made by Ball, Black and Company of New York City.

Lovely bar pin in lapiday-cut banded agate. The strong malachite green color is very unusual and striking. The mountings are gold filled. The back retains the original "C" clasp and tube hinge.

Origin: Scotland, mid 19th century. Condition: small flakes on the back sides of three corners (only faintly visible from the front when inspected closely). Size: 2-1/4" long.

Lovely Art Deco quadruple strand necklace composed of white seed beads flanking two lapis lazuli hemispheres alternating with three rings of channel-set paste.

Origin: American, ca. 1925. Condition: excellent. Size: 15" long.

Sterling silver and 14 karat gold bangle bracelet, set with three pearls and three rubies, each mounted in yellow gold. The gems are set equidistant from one another. The pearls are deeply lustrous and have a fine, faint pink tint. The pear-shaped rubies are also of good color and clarity. The pearls are 6mm in diameter; the rubies are approximately 4mm x 2mm. Ca. 1950's.

Beautiful striped agate mounted in sterling silver and gold. The back of the mounting is silver and the top edges are gold. There are no hallmarks, so the brooch is probably American or a custom-made English piece. It retains its original clasp. 1.25"x1.5"

This humorous, mustached character has a mischievous glint in his amber colored rhinestone eyes. Gold plated, heavy and very three dimensional. Pendant 3 1/2" long, 2" at widest, 1" at deepest. Chain 23 1/2".

Real amethyst crystals surrounded by chunky gold plate. Brooch has gold leaf pattern with prong set clear rhinestones, 2" by 1 3/4". Clip earrings have gold nugget look, 1" by 3/4".

Interesting combination of magenta and purple, this set is of composition beads in various sizes and shapes. Knotted throughout, the two necklace strands measure 26 1/2" and 29". The clasp is rhinestone. Complimentary clip earrings(with beautiful Haskell style backs) measure 1 1/2" by 1" approximately.

Adorable cornucopias full of oranges, pears, tomatoes, carrots,leaves and more. Just plain fun. Clips 2" long, 1 1/2" at widest and 3/4" at deepest. Slip on earrings 1 1/4" long, 3/4" wide and 1/2" deep. This set did not pass my Bakelite test, but it may be Bakelite because the test is not fool proof.

Elegant vermeil brooch from the 1940s. Large crystal stone and clear pave rhinestones. 2 1/2" by 1 3/4" approximately.

Sterling vermeil clip 3" long x 1 1/2" wide with hinged clip earrings. Lots going on here: sword, shield, swirling banners with tiny clear rhinestones and faux pearls. Very three dimensional.

A classic Mexican Deco motif, the “coffee bean” adds a dimple in repousse silver semi-spheres making them look like the flavorful product of the tropics. I have had many pieces in various forms over the years, usually repousse designs with stones but some quite substantial, cast and all silver but it has been a long time since I presented my last example...

Here is a mid-century pendant/brooch and earrings set by Margot de Taxco. It's a book-piece design shown on p.70 of "Margot Van Voorhies : The Art of Mexican Enamelwork". It's a standout set in blue and white enamel, and the contrast of colors really makes the design pop. I've never come across this particular set and it is really stunning...

Offered here are four Hector Aguilar bangles. Two are 990 silver with HA hallmarks from 1940-1945. One is hallmarked with the HA Sterling TB marks from 1943-1948. One is marked Taxco HA eagle assay 9. Each measures 2 1/2" in diameter. Total weight is 88.6 grams. All are collector quality. The 990 design is shown on p. 141 of Silver Masters of Mexico. You can wear two on each wrist or all four together - they look fabulous.

Hallmarks date this rarely seen Los Castillo necklace 1940-1945. Very likely a design created by Margot van Voorhies Carr (Margot de Taxco), who was married to Antonio Castillo during this time. Margot designed many of Los Castillo's early pieces. It's a gorgeous necklace with a beaded scalloped design, measuring 16 1/2" closed, wearable length. The centerpiece is 5" across. Weight is a hefty 104.5 grams...

This is a classic “cigar band” ring from around the turn of the last century, and moving into the Edwardian era, often called a “gypsy” ring, made from richly-colored 18kt yellow gold. The center stone is a diamond, the outer two stones are rubies. It has decorative scroll work on the shoulders. The hallmarks are for Chester, England, 1903, and there is an illegible maker’s mark. It weighs 4.0g, and is approximately size 5...

Crafted in the late 1950s or in the 1960s, this sterling silver Mexican necklace is signed by Victoria or Ana Maria Nunez de Brilanti. Victoria is one of the few female designers and silversmiths of Taxco’s 20th c. Silver Renaissance that we know of and she is credited, among others, for perfecting the “metales casados” or “married metals” technique. In this necklace, however, she adds a modernist twist to an otherwise “archeological” design...

Spratling was known to have a large collection of Pre-Columbian Mayan & Olmec objects. He designed this necklace using hand wrought sterling silver beads, coral beads & hand carved obsidian Olmec figures most likely acquired from locals in the surrounding areas of Taxco, Mexico. The wearable length of the necklace is 16 inches and weighs 32 grams. Each carved image is unique and about 1/2" high. The necklace is in excellent condition. Clasp is tight & secure...
