Simple, elegant modernist earrings of irregular-shaped panels by Frances Holmes Boothby, bezel-set with cabochons of dyed black onyx. This Scottish blood stone, brass & cairngorn brooch is 1 3/4" in diameter. The brass fillagree base is very similar to Miriam Haskell backs. There are for round blood stone disks measuring 3/8" in diameter and 4 diamond shaped.

Blood stone is Plasma with red sports of iron oxide. Plasma is dark green, opaque chalcedonly quartz with the color coming from the chlorite.

Fun and perfect for this summer - especially if you decide to stay away from beaches! - this mod sterling silver "fish with air bubble" necklace by Los Castillo comes out of the workshop's "onix negro" line of jewelry. I find this technique fascinating - it poses a big challenge to the lapidary's and silversmith's abilities as the onyx slab has to be carved out precisely to the dimensions of the sterling inlay that will be set in it...

This sterling circus horse pin looks a lot like David Mir's circus horse except that this circus horse is made of sterling vermeil. It is 2 1/2" tall and 2 1/4" wide. It is hallmarked sterling. The only major difference is the lack of enameling. This horse also has very elaborately decorative trimmings. I know that the real one for sure is worth $1600.00 +_ if you can find one.

A very fine pair of double-sided cufflinks by Seaman Schepps. Each of the faces is made from a single blue sapphire that has been tumbled rather than faceted, and then set in a framework of curling gold wirework. Absolutely stunning on with a length of 7 inches and a weight of a solid 68 grams. Hallmark correctly shown for Antonio Pineda. The presence is sleek at just under 1 inch. Each moonstone is framed with two caviar balls. The moonstones glow a beautiful blue and there is no damage or repairs. There is some patina but not heavy leaving to buyer to decide for their own personal taste. Clasp is tight and closes with a click. An excellent example from the Mexican Silver Renaissance.

A very good pair of late Victorian 14K yellow gold bean-back cufflinks, the oval faces decorated with profiles of Greek or Roman gods. The faces are beautifully detailed against a stippled background and are finished with deliberately eroded edges to suggest antiquity. This pin is hallmarked "Kreisler" on the pin. It is 2 1/4" in diameter. The 10mm wide stone simulates amber in the center of the pin.
