Here are two charming sterling silver scatter pins formed as ladies’ heads complete with bonnets and flowing hair. They are typical of the highly detailed cast work of Unger Bros., of Newark, NJ, during the Art Nouveau period. Both have secure C-clasps; one looks to have been replaced, perhaps during the 1920s. A nice quality pin with a graceful design, set with a dyed blue chalcedony. It is American, with a maker’s mark of conjoined JM for Joseph Masaniello, a New York jewelry artisan who worked during the 1940s and 1950s, and was a friend and contemporary of Carl Ruopoli. Natural Bohemian garnets are featured in this antique pin. Two round elements are made up of three tiers of rich red rose-cut garnets. Carved Shell Cameo set in a silver frame with a gold colored rope twist accent. The frame is marked only 800 in an oval and is most likely Italian. The carving is excellent, with highlights of different colors left in the hair. The frame has a pin closure and a moveable bail so it can be worn as a pin or a pendant. The profile of the woman and mark on the frame suggests Victorian era of 1875 - 1880's. Condition is excellent.

A classic design of engine-turned engraved vertical lines and molded edges on the larger, rectangular buttons, the smaller sides ovular with a textured surface. The cuff links are lightweight but well made, and appear to have been hardly worn. The connections and bridge bars are very secure; both bars are marked 835 for silver content with double-struck crabs, apparently to indicate Paris (silver mark used 1838-1962). The maker's mark also appears in a diamond-shaped reserve...

A mid-Victorian pair of hand carved shell cameos of a mythological man and woman mounted on a later bar pin c1900. The two 7/8 x 5/8" cameos are thick and finely carved and the rolled gold plate pin has a safety clasp and it measures 1-7/8" long. It is unsigned and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs...

A commanding oval of what could be Southwest turquoise or agate is set in a sterling bezel mount with unusual curled, petal-like protrusions at the edge. The ring is quite comfortable; a wide band keeps it from turning on the finger. The stone is polished and features extensive marbling of a reddish-brown matrix on a light blue-green ground. The mount is secure, and the band is adjustable, with only a 925 mark to indicate sterling on the interior. It is a size 8...

Very evocative of the Arts and Crafts style but most probably made in the 1940s, this elegant sterling silver ring is adorned with a pearlescent purple moonglow lucite “stone”. This type of luxurious plastic was very popular in the 1940s and extensively used in the world of costume jewelry so I think it’s an exciting surprise to find a sterling ring set with it.
